Join Couchsurfing to see Ryan’s full profile. It’s free!
Hey there! My name's Ryan, I was born and raised in Toronto, but have lived in Montreal, Zurich and Melbourne. In my opinion couchsurfing is the best way to travel as you get to meet some locals and get to know the real city, as opposed to just the tourist attractions (though those can be amusing as well). I like eating local specialties as much as possible and of course any local beverages. Here in Toronto though, we pretty much just eat the specialties of the rest of the world rather than our own Canadian creations.
These days I'm quite busy with my start-up, the Toronto Tool Library and Sharing Depot. I am of the opinion that we can't continue consuming the way we have for the past century so we better start working on alternatives.
Make the world a better place by sharing it, not keeping it to yourself
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Welcome people to stay at my place while I'm in Canada and while I travel the world..
Great experiences so far across Europe and Asia and I have managed to do some hosting in Zurich and Toronto...i love learning from new people and seeing what it's like living elsewhere!
Travelling (obviously), cultural activities, non-fiction/cultural/spiritual books, hockey and most other sports, rock and roll (classic/indi), poker, paragliding, yoga, kombucha
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies - Zeitgeist Moving Forward, Taste the Waste, Chasing Ice, Shawshank Redemption, Clerks, UHF
Books - Spiritual (Vivekanada, Chopra), travel related (depending on the country i'm in), classic literature and philosophy
Music - Beatles, Pumpkins, Arcade Fire, endless list really..
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of my most recent highlights was jumping off the Versazca dam in Ticino, Switzerland. The dam is 220 metres high and was the same dam 'James Bond' jumped off at the start of Goldeneye, amazing!
Teach, Learn, Share
I've got a lot to teach based on my life experiences. From graduating university, finding work and travelling extensively I can offer much in the way of guidance. I'm also looking to learn anything i can about the people i meet and the way of life they lead...
What I Can Share with Hosts
Always love swapping stories and talking about what the future can/will be. Some other options include juggling, chess/backgammon and marathon running.
