ABOUT ME
I'm fascinated by the lives and stories if others - I like figuring out how things (and people) work. My daily routine is rather boring (I like to go to bed early and enjoy a good evening of music or conversation over going out) but I'm always up for an adventure or a chance to travel. Or both.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
While living at the Orbis International House (OIH) I hosted numerous individuals through CS and have hosted visitors through other programs (State Dept., Institute for International Education, etc.)While living abroad I enjoy meeting folks at CS meetups (London, Sofia, and Krakow).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have couchsurfed extensively in the US and Poland, and stayed with CSers while visiting Turkey. I hosted folks in my former homes in Portland (ME) and Denver as well as meeting CSers for coffee and a tour of the town.

Interests

Hiking, backpacking, camping, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, Polish/Ukrainian language and culture, forced migration narratives, Meskhetian Turk history and culture, diaspora communities, ethnic studies and nationalism, music, writing (creative nonfiction, oral histories) reading (mostly nonfiction and science fiction), politics, religion & spirituality.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watched the sunrise on the Neva River near Peter and Paul fortress, solo hiked in the Tatra mountains, talked my way onto a tourist boat off Olkhon Island to avoid 12+ hours in a bumpy van.
