To enjoy life... to experience this wonderful life...
56 going on 6... Playful...
Intelligent and kindhearted...
Started out as a corporate business person (with an MBA and some PhD studies) and dropped out. Had been "successful," but wasn't happy... Took me a while to realize that I am really a creative being - an artist...
Yearning to wander the world and meet the wonderful people... :)
I have a spiritual orientation towards life. There is so much more than what appears easily to the eye... And it's delightful!
NOTE: I am sometimes sensitive to cat and dog hair, as well as strong chemical odors (including household construction) and molds. Also, massive multiple line powerlines can be difficult if close by.
Life is to be enjoyed. I am not always there, but that's what I shoot for...
I have yearned to see the world - to experience the love all over - to explore other cultures. I yearn for so much more than what I had known...
It's not so much the place I visit, but the people I meet that brings the richness to the experience....
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I started couchsurfing through this site in 12/2012. It was fabulous. In 2013, I couchsurfed across the USA (OR to FL and back to OR) - had a great time!
It was so fun, I did it again in 2014!
While in Florida, I have participated in Tampa area CouchSurfing community activities. I also participated in the Madison, WI couch crash.
I am looking forward to more couchsurfing and meeting more wonderful people - for this is what makes life GREAT!
Unfortunately, I am traveling and cannot host at this time...
In early 2013, I enjoyed two months of couchsurfing across the US (OR to FL and back). Met LOTS of awesome people and had a lot of fun!!!!
See my video about the experience - http://youtu.be/fMb6zW9gdZU
Outside of this website, I've hosted many people in my home.
I have also surfed at the homes of people in VT, CA, OR, FL, etc. The people were SO nice. It was awesome to learn about the local areas for natives!
I LOVE chatting with people. Learning about their lives.
Making movies/documentaries. Interviewing people about their opinions and life experiences. (Most of my videos have a social justice/love orientation, because that's how I believe true change occurs - from the heart.)
Being part of and watching theater. I have been a director, actor, stage manager, and more. My favorite is directing and acting.
Looking at the world through the eyes of a photographer (the eyes of love and magic). I have been all over the USA taking photographs. (See my new travel photographyblog at https://eileen14800.wordpress.com/ ). I also teach people how to trust their own talent and shoot great pictures from the heart.
Balloon twisting is an amazing way to connect with people. I don't just twist, I entertain - look into the person's eyes and do my best to create magic with them. It's awesome to watch them light up. Yes, I light up, too.
I also enjoy board games, card games, and pinball.
Music, Movies, and Books
Documentaries... especially the ones I direct/produce :)
Oldies music (of my youth - 1960s-70s rock)
Show tunes, especially the oldies... (I have directed theater and have been in school and community theater productions of musicals.)
I am not much of a reader. I tend to be more visual.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Catching a beautiful formation of clouds or birds in the sky....
I did my first stand up comedy routine to an audience and they went wild (in a good way). The thunderous applause brought tears to my eyes...
I received an early invitation to show my film "is this my home?" at the 2014 American Documentary Film Festival in Palm Springs, CA. At first, I didn't believe it was real. When it sunk in, I was overcome with excitement.
Playing with little children. Sharing that fabulous glow...
Teach, Learn, Share
I was a college teacher and community educator. I enjoy helping people learn what they are yearning for.
I balloon twist - it's an awesome thing to share.
I can also share info about documentary filmmaking, theater, stand up comedy, improv, social justice, college instruction, recycling/waste management. (I am a Master Recycler in Oregon, USA), public speaking, etc. I've had a wonderfully varied bunch of life experiences (and look forward to more).
I look forward to learning more about the world I live in and about myself through my interactions with the people on CS.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My hope is that we will all have a great time - getting to know new friends and feeling enriched by the experience.
I hope we all will feel more connected to this wonderful world of awesome people.
