I just finished a teaching gig in Korea, and I don't have anywhere to be until September!

I don't need much - a shower, maybe a couch or maybe just a backyard if the weather is nice.

I'm from Detroit, USA, but I'm not one of those loud, military crew cut Americans. I like books but if you quiz me on the classics I'll fail. I play guitar, but I play best after a few beers. Bought a ukelele for travel but I'm still working on it.

Briefly: I'll clean stuff up, I'm a good drinking partner and I'll put up with almost any accommodation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've got a working holiday visa waiting for me in NZ. Hoping to settle in Wellington for a few months. Hoping to couchsurf until I can find my own digs and get a sense of the city. If you've got a room for rent I might be interested! Or, like, even a backyard for rent... I've lived in a tent before and I'll do it again.

But if not, a few days on your floor would be really helpful!

Interests

I'm simple. Playing guitar, music, books... I haven't pulled on my climbing shoes in a couple months but I do have them with me! I'll also me travelling with my bicycle, and I'll be riding it everywhere.

Music: Defiance OH, Jawbreaker, Replacements, Dinosaur Jr, Nobunny, Jay Reatard, Fugazi, Japandroids, Titus Andronicus, Tom Waits, Justin Townes Earle, Townes Van Zandt, J Dilla, Death Grips, Brian Jonestown Massacre... (Brief: Punk/garage/whatever with some country thrown in).

Books: Just read a few books on sailing around the world, also Hemmingway, Graham Greene, Bruce Chatwin

Movies: I'm so far behind on movies... I knew the good ones as of 2010 but I've only seen a handful of new ones since then. Not for a lack of interest, I'm usually just out of the loop.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Personal guest of ghanaian gangsters after half a bottle of gin and a robbery that they decided to solve. Nearly froze to death on Cayembe and Cotopaxi (a month before it erupted). Left home. Rode my bike across Korea.
