About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore as much of the western United States as possible before I start a Masters program.

ABOUT ME

I'm a 23 year old Biology graduate (University of Cincinnati) with a focus in Ecology. I'm currently traveling the country while I decide where to accept an assistantship for a Masters degree in Ecology.

PHILOSOPHY

Tread lightly on the Earth.

Savor every bite of food.

Embrace new people, learn from them.

Adventure your butt off.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I heard about couchsurfing while on the road, living in my car. I'm really excited to host people, once I have a roof to offer... In the mean time, I'm hoping to meet some new people in the northwest while I'm on my trip!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None. Learned about it today, already on the road, hoping to stay with someone in a cold place so I won't have to sleep in my car!

Interests

I love climbing (mostly sport, some bouldering), hiking and backpacking, being a biology nerd over cool plants and animals, cycling and any other strenuous outdoor sports. I'm an avid reader; I worked in a bookstore for some time and love to talk about books and authors. I try to learn about different cultures, foods, beers, and anything new to me as often as possible.

I'm always excited to meet new people and hear their stories.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've lived in the U.S. and Canada. I've worked as a zipline tour guide, combustion technician (paid blow-stuff-upper), and ecology technician (paid hiker/live-in-the-mountains-er).

I climb a lot and get a kick out of free soloing (climbing without a rope) easy stuff. I stay far within the range of my ability, but the perceived risk puts me in this shockingly clear zone...I know move I do will be correct because it has to be correct.

Anyways, my friends and I were in Joshua Tree one time, and we were out for the day just scrambling and exploring. I convinced him to run up this steep, but easy looking crack/face. We started cruising up and realized we were climbing past bolts, and then the climbing got harder than it had looked from the ground. Long story short, my friend saved my life (or at least a couple of broken legs and a lot of cactus needles in my bum). It was an adventure that always sticks out in my mind.
