Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are open to hosting if anyone happens to come to the Grand Rapids area. We have an event every year called Art Prize which is the largest of its kind. I recommend coming during this time.

Interests

I love to go to art galleries. Looking at art makes me feel more connected to the community. I like to listen to live music and go out on the town. I am a big fan of documentaries and the theatre.

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything Kurt Vonnegut, or any philosophy text (Plato, Marx, ect.) I like documentaries the best but don't mind a chick flick every once in a while! I love Kate Winslets' body of work, so pretty much anything she is in. Count Meryl Streep in that category as well. As for music I am all over the place. Rage Against the Machine, Bob Dylan, Le Tigre, Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Jack White (whatever group he pops up in), David Bowie, Jewel, Jay-z...you get the picture.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Meeting Morimoto at his restaurant in Napa Valley. He was actually in his restaurant! It was awesome!

Riding a beer bike in Berlin. Super fun and not sure how legal it was but a great time!

Splunking in the Mammoth Caves in Kentucky. It is the most rewarding and terrifying experience I ever had.

Teach, Learn, Share

1. You have to pay for most public toilets in Europe.
2. The Gates of Babylon are housed in a museum in Berlin.
3. Male Platypus's are poisonous
4. Anne Frank house in Amsterdam is totally worth it!
5. If you can, go to the amusement park in Vienna called Prada. The rides are insane!
