ABOUT ME

Elli: I am from Greece and I love to meet new people, mindsets and cultures. I've been living for the past six years in Spain something that has helped me get in touch with many people from different backgrounds and get to know other cultures and ways of living. Since Covid I have been spending most of my free time and savings travelling back and forth to my home country and Spain and I have finally set my mind to start travelling again to new places, starting with Norway and fulfilling my most heartfelt goal of seeing the Northern Lights. Most of my travels before that had been on my own so far so this time I am excited to share this adventure with my partner, Jordi.

Jordi: I am from Barcelona and I have just starting discovering the couchsurfing world. When I travel I like to explore the most I can the cities I visit, get to know people who live there and learn more about the food, culture, traditions. I am really active and I love nature, so I try to do as much hiking as I can in order to get to know these places through a different perspective and I also find it extremely interesting to try new, local sports when I have the chance. Norway is really different to what we are used to in the southern countries, so we are eager to try winter activities and sports and learn about the way of life there.

We love nature and we mainly want to visit breathtaking landscapes and connect with their beauty. We have taken on a habit of visiting places of astronomical interest and learn more about the sky and the universe, and we are thrilled to travel somewhere that far(and that cold) for something so unique.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have had plenty of great experiences hosting and visiting other couchsurfers. The past years I have kind of stopped using the application since I was neither travelling much nor having a permanent housing situation.
Jordi and I decided to reactivate the account and start participating actively, hosting and travelling each time more.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted many times, mostly while in Salamanca and a couple of times in Barcelona and Athens and it was a really amazing experience since my ex roomates and I had the opportunity to meet many interesting people and form lasting friendships! I have travelled a lot together with friends being hosted by fellow CS, and I have also many positive experiences in solo travelling with great and friendly hosts.
Since I found out about CS, I've stopped going to hostels etc, expect if it's absolutely needed, and so far I loved the experience!

We are work as psychologist/dance movement therapist and as an engineer/musician and we share interests like travelling, admiration for the nature and water/mountain activities, climbing as well as music festivals, dancing and discovering new things.
Through our jobs, we aspire to make a change, myself towards human rights, prevention and consequences of institutional and state violence and Jordi mostly promoting sustainability and second hand markets.
