About Me

If you asked my best friends, they'd probably say that I'm odd, but in a good way. I'm very nerdy and am passionate about learning new things and coming across new ideas. I'm a geochemist (geology+chemistry), so naturally I enjoy exploring and learning about how our planet works. If you want to teach me anything, I'm really excited! I take everything at face value and value integrity above all else.

Above all else, be kind, especially to yourself.

I love animals, especially cats and rats. I love hiking and camping. I love crafts (I crochet and sew) and anything handmade. I'm quite introverted which means that I value time alone, but still enjoy socializing and going to get togethers, especially if they involve board games or dancing. I also really, really enjoy climbing active volcanoes. I have some great stories about these adventures.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've done is climb up Oldoinyo Lengai in Tanzania. It took us about 5 hours to climb up and it was so steep I thought my kneecaps would shatter. The scoria was also so fine that every step forward slid down. Anyway, at the top I was greeted by the fantastic crater that blew my mind. I literally started jumping up and down and burst into tears. My friends said it was pretty hilarious how excited I was - it was one of the best moments of my life. On the way down, I was scared because of how high we were. Then it started to rain and we slid down the volcano on a lahar flow. I was pretty sure I was going to die that day haha. Very intense.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach crocheting, geology, math, chemistry, physics, animal care (specializing in cats and rats!), and outdoor/camping skills, oh and bellydance??
