ABOUT ME

I am a Londoner about to go on a 6 month trip to various parts of the world. I need a break from working life! I think people who know me would say I'm fun and kind and easygoing. I love people and their stories, I love laughing, trying new food and seeing new things. I and can't wait for this adventure :-)

PHILOSOPHY

I try to keep kindness as my guiding principle, and treat others as I want to be treated myself. I also think many of us could do with living more in the moment - certainly those of us used to city life anyway!

Really new to this, only couchsurfed once so far. But when I go back to London hopefully I can repay the kindness of my hosts!

I like chatting over cups of tea (or better still, glasses of wine...), and can usually find things to laugh about in myself and in life. I also enjoy film, music, reading, and I love a good boogie! I think I'm still not too old to party now and then. Sometimes the kids need to be shown how it's really done after all ;-)

Film, depends who I'm talking to. If I want to impress, a wide and culturally rich list of world cinema. Godard, Fellini, Kurosawa. If no one's looking, 'Big' with Tom Hanks. Or Grease. Haha :-)

Music, most of it. Rock and pop I guess. I love to dance. And sing, badly.

Books - ah, way too many to pick a few favourites. I did English degrees and would be lost without books in my life. I

Oh dear, one amazing thing. This is like an awkward first date! Working in mental health has been pretty amazing - it's shown me how incredible people can be, in the toughest of circumstances. When someone's hit the hardest times and still bowl you over with their dignity and humour, that's pretty cool.

My French is terrible since A level 17 years ago! I'd like to practise but am also a patient English teacher if you'd like to learn! I love cooking and really want to put paid to this idea that our food is bad in the UK. So let me cook for you. In return I love to collect recipes from different people and places.
