About Me

I want to see as much of the world with as little money as possible, it's a big ol' world.

Hello, my name is Emma.

I am 19.

I like art and have perfected the skill of making people look awful with my blind-drawings. Also photography (digital and film) and going to cool places like museums, old abandoned hospitals, theme parks, arcades (where I can beat absolutely anyone at Mario Kart, seriously, I’m super talented at that game), and watching the sun set on the beach.

Also I like writing stuff – I’m currently writing a book about all manner of things like the plight of the cactus and magical underwater adventures and I’m very excited because it’s going to be great.

Basically I'm bored of my days all being the same right now and have wanted to travel for ages - exploring new places, meeting great people (yourself included), trying new food and getting into unexpected situations but hey, that's all part of the fun, right?

I suppose my tipping point was just the other day during my four week review at work where my manager said he nearly fired me because I was vague and asked too many irrelevant questions like what would happen if there was no ice in the world, and would you rather be a human with a fish head or a fish with a human head?

Both excellent questions I'm sure you'll agree but it made me realise that gutting fish probably wasn't the ideal job for me anyway and I took it as a sign I should go travelling. Also I asked my Magic-8 Ball and when I asked it if I should go it said "GO FOR IT" and you can't really ignore the advice of a mass manufactured plastic toy - it makes all my important life decisions for me.

Australia is a beautiful country and I think the creative side of me would like to see the gorgeous sunsets and beaches and I want to do as much stuff cheap and free and possible - couchsurfing, hitchhiking and generally being a little bit trampish.

Oh and I'd like to find myself and all that nonsense.

If you could help me out by letting me stay for a day or two or however long I would love to meet you and hear your story, learn a bit about where you live and all that and would be incredibly grateful!

I might even wash up some dishes.

Sweep the floor a bit.

Do what you want.

Unless it's something bad like murder.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

I will be flying into Sydney on the 9th of December and will be in Australia until August next year. Nothing planned yet so I probably should start planning..

Travelling, meeting new people, music, art (did I mention I'm really good at making people look bad with my drawings?), photography (digital and film).

Music, Movies & Books

Arctic Monkeys, Metronomy, Radiohead, The xx, Alt-j, Hot Chip, Gorillaz, Outkast, Jimmy Hendrix, The White Stripes, Pixies, Kanye West, The Beatles, Eminem, The Strokes, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, The Prodigy

One Amazing Thing I've Done

I ate 5 doughnuts in a row and once I nearly dropped something but caught it in the nick of time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can twist an apple in half and can teach you the skills required to do it. Sometimes I can make music play out of my mouth by putting an earphone up each nostril and I can teach you how to memorize any single digit number for a day.

I don't know really.

Maybe I can show you how to draw badly.

Also I can raise each eyebrow separately which is incredibly impressive.
