PHILOSOPHY
I should probably put some inspirational quote/scripture verse here, but I'm still working on it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: International & Arthouse - lots of ML China & Taiwanese (early Ang Lee...SOOOO good!); some Korean; Bollywood is a guilty pleasure; recently I've discovered how amazing French cinema is...I saw Ozon's In the House a few months ago, and I would love other recommendations!
Books: I honestly read everything, so it's hard to categorize. Although over the past two years I haven't had time to read for fun (unless you count dry academic stuff as fun). For an example, I just finished reading a non-fiction book about Charles Dickens's secret mistress and I might start reading some of the Ramayana because a friend wants to do a book study. I also want to read more plays in the next few months.
Music: Lately lots of late 70s - mid/late 90s rock with some R&B mixed in. Sometimes international (read: Asian) pop. I also love, love, love classical & especially 4-voice choral music (as long as it's on key); I avoid most country music like the plague, but besides that I'm ok listening to almost anything else.
TV: HBO, HBO, HBO. and ocasionally stuff from the BBC if its available on Netflix/Hulu
