No interviews for recruitment to central govt jobs from Jan 1, rules government

New Delhi: Young candidates seeking jobs in the central government or Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) under different ministries will no longer be required to go through the process of interviews. Starting January 1, 2016, there will be no recruitment with interviews at junior level posts in Government of India ministries, departments, attached and subordinate offices, autonomous bodies and PSUs. The announcement regarding this change in the recruitment process from January 1, 2016, had originally come from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his “Mann Ki Baat” radio address just before Diwali. The PM had stressed that this change would eliminate corruption in recruitment at low levels as people had to run for recommendations following interview calls. “I want to announce that there will not be any interviews for non-gazette entry of group B, C and D in central government. This will be implemented from January 1, 2016," Modi had said.    In a communiqué sent to the Secretaries of all central government ministries today, the government has asked all central government ministries and their PSUs to dispense with the requirement of interviews for selections at junior level posts within the next two days. Skill or physical tests, however, may continue. Effectively, several vacancies that are filled by the Staff Selection Commission through the Combined Graduate Level exams will be directly affected through this new rule. Banks, however, find no mention in today's communiqué. The timeliness set regarding completing the process of the discontinuation of interview by December 31, 2015, has to be adhered to strictly, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) communiqué said. "All the advertisement for future vacancies will be without the interview as part of the recruitment process," it said. The decision to discontinue interview for recruitments is for all Group C and non-gazetted posts of Group 'B' category and all such equivalent posts,
