About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. - Plato. To be or become my Rwandan name "NKURUNZIZA" which means "bonne nouvelle" or good news!

ABOUT ME

It's kind of odd to say something about myself, but hey modesty is imposed by culture anyway so here we go: I am a warm and friendly person always ready for action and probably willing to go to great lengths to help those who request help and need it.
For the rest I can say that I enjoy life to the maximum while being relentlessly eager to learn new things so as to continuously enhance my perception of the world and the understanding of people and systems around me...

PHILOSOPHY

"Progress is not an individual privilege. It is the human aspiration to improve existential conditions. For this cause, it must be shared with contemporary citizens of our world.
More importantly however, is that we are aware of the task at hand: to lay the pavement for future generations so that they can walk through life in a more secure, confident and comfortable manner. When this goal is finally met, we can proudly tap each other's backs, look into each other's eyes and say that we made a difference, that progress has been made..." - R.Y. Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Being new to the CS Project I can only say that I am ready to engage myself all the way as soon as I fully comprehend how things work. Theoretically I have a clue, practically there is much for me to discover. So I am ready to host and surf... You all seem to be great people so for sure I will get sucked in right away! :-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None whatsoever, at least not in this official CS project. There already have been people from around the world on my foldable couch referred to me by e.g. Facebook friends/contacts... As for myself, so far: I have been in youth hostels, hotels, flats for rent but not yet simply on a couch immersing my self entirely in the culture and lifestyle of -without a doubt- amazing people.

Interests

Traveling, meeting new people, understanding different ways of life, reading, movies/films, green business - and I don't mean the color of the American dollar but rather ecologically sustainable ways of improving our living environment and ensuring the natural habitat of our co-inhabitants on this land and heritage we call EARTH.

Music, Movies, and Books

Wow. guess I am bit too eclectic to mention all the best books, movies and music I have read, watched and listened to. So I will go for one in each category that left quite an impression on me for one reason or an other...

Book: Gabriel García Márquez: One Hundred Years of Solitude. (1971).
Movie: Quentin Tarantino: Pulp Fiction. (1994).
Music: Amadou & Mariam: Dimanche à Bamako. (2004).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A part from that one time on the beach in Catalunya when I was with a half Colombian- half Danish beautiful young woman? :)
Probably my recent visit to New York tops it all: what a city! People seem so advanced there: living within their own communities yes, but ultimately working and progressing together as one!
But what is upcoming is much more exciting: in October I will visit my mother and family in Rwanda! Godwilling/inshallah it will be the first time in 20 years that we will see each other !!!

Teach, Learn, Share

In sports I can teach you how to play football/soccer or help you to improve your already acquired skills.
Retorica is something I am not too bad at either. Euhm how to open up yourself to someone... How to stay authentic and yet still get influenced by others who have a piece of the existential puzzle or seem to reach a core of truth... How to make a very nice omelette. How to grill meet on a BBQ and still have vegan and vegetarian friends... How to whistle to a girl and not getting the bad eye or a slap in the face...

What can you teach me? how to make good plans and execute them, how to communicate excellent ideas in an effective way so people can coherently connect to these... How to make the best "Kuku Na Nazi" or "Gazpacho" ever... How to not just pretend I can play basketball or tennis... How to play the guitar or any other sexy instrument... How to dance salsa and keep the rhythm...How to write a mind-blowing academic thesis so that people will actually read it... How to fly an airplane... How to climb a mountain...How to understand Einstein's relativity theory without an explosion of my brains... a new position of the Kamasutra perhaps? (that's a joke-unless you are gonna do it) :D
