About Me

Hello Everyone

Thank you for taking the time to read through my profile. I just signed up today, the last day in January of 2018.
I have never had the intense desire to travel but i saw a quote that said the world is a book and if you do not travel you only read one page. and that got me thinking, maybe i should look into it. after all we only regret what we didnt do.

growing up i moved around a lot to the point where i dont even know where i am originally from so in terms of traveling i was over it. however now the times have changed it seems. a lot of my friend have left the country. They have moved on to Australia, UK, Brazil, Vietnam, USA, New Zealand, Sweden and Netherlands just to name a few.

These are all countries very far away from South Africa. The turning point to me came one day when a friend asked me this: "You have moved around so much and have no dependents. you can go anywhere in teh world. so why stay here?" that kind of made me think he is right. i have no idea what is out there. well apart from what google maps can show me (its a very helpful feature to map out areas).

I once traveled to Munich and Hockenheim in Germany back in 2011 for the Formula Student event. I met so many amazing people and it was an absolute fantastic experience. if you are ever in Munich, Germany, Go stay at the wombats youth hostel and go on the beer tour. it is worth every second. i still have contact with som people that i met there over 7 years ago.

So this is why im on here. i want to go back to those days. somewhere along the line i lost that joy and determination fell into a 9-5 where eventually my business started running me and not the other way around.
I have set my sights on Iceland. i mean black sand, come on, thats awesome.

They say the journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. This is that step.

I have a blank book and a pen so its about time i start writing in it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

i would like to meet up with other travelers in my area hear their stories maybe help them get around town.
This city us not exactly known for its safety so having a friend in the area could be beneficial.

I know basic German, the hello and how are you, where is this and where is that. So if you are from germany and can speak some English it would be really cool to hear from you.

Im not hosting visitors at this point. i first want to check out the platform and go to meetings and event to see what all the fuss is about.

I have no expectations so at this point anything goes. not very smart i know but its just my style. dive into the pool and worry about the water temperature later.

I also would love to go and work in iceland.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all kinds of music but to name some songs that will always be on my play list
Linkin park, Skillet, Bring me the horizon, Rise Against, Breaking Benjamin, Halsey, Fallout boy just to name a few there are too many ranging from Mozart to Eminem. Slipknot to Lindsey Sterling. ts crazy.

I love poetic quotes, my Facebook is flooder with them hahaha. i am dyslexic but only a little bit. so reading never was a big thing with me. Id rather have waited for the movie.

In terms of movies well there are quite a few i like. Marvel and Dc movies are ma favorite. Star wars was great also. i love the fantasy, action and some sc-fi movies as well but horrors never made it on my favorite list. not even close lol.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing experience iv had, i would definitely say would be the scenery of the western cape while cycling. I dont cycle anymore it was a long time ago but from cycling down chapmans peak in the Cape Argus cycle race though to Meirings poort on another occasion, a beautiful mini canyon with curvy roads just outside Oudtshorn, sunrises over the ocean in Mossel Bay and the tropical paradise of Knysna. Definitely a must on any ones list. i do love South Africa and it has so many things to offer. you just need to get in contact with the right people.

Teach, Learn, Share

Im starting off with the intention to learn about the rest of the world. From other travelers. hear their stories where they have been and what they have done.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Since i have moved around a lot in RSA i have a wide idea of what there is to see. from the flower fields in Namakwaland on the west coats. the tropical forests in the garden route. the epic surf spots in Jeffires Bay. the wildlife in Limpopo. busy streets of the capital city. Tropical waters of KZN. The Drakensburg mountains and these just name a few. Few South Africans will admit it but deep down we are all super proud of our country. and always rejoice when we see a fellow South-African abroad, weather it be in internet forums or on the TV or face to face. Also the food here is amazing im sure. We like our beef and braais.
