About Me

H there! My names is Eric and I'm on a three month car/cycling tour to ride up as many mountains as I can throughout the Western US and Canada. I've been cycling for six years now and absolutely love it. I spent the last 12 years in the San Francisco bay area prior to embarking on my tour.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

DISCLAIMER: I am new to CouchSurfing as of May '15. I was completely unaware of this website until I met some touring cyclists in northern Washington state (US). They encouraged me to check it out even though I'm driving a car on my tour, not cycling exclusively. I am by no means trying to convey that I am touring with a bike only; it's just a lot easier to get to as many mountains as possible in a car. With that said, I enjoy camping, but am open to meeting some really cool, fun, and like-minded people on my journey.

Music, Movies, and Books

Genres: funk, neo-soul, rock, jazz, classic Motown. Favorite singers/bands: The Killers, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Awolnation, Miles Davis, John Coltraine.

Two favorite films: A River Runs Through It and LA Confidential.

Books: I typically read ~25 books a year. My favorite authors include Erik Larsen, James Ellroy, Hampton Sides, and Pema Chodron.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was a big brother/mentor with Big Brothers/Big Sisters for almost three years. My little brother was a great influence on me and I think I probably learned more from him than he did from me. I certainly miss spending time with him.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A cold beer and a good story?!? I'm not sure how to answer this. I do enjoy sharing what I've learned when it comes to living a clean, healthy lifestyle; as it relates to eating and lifestyle habits. I've worked my entire career in the investment management industry, so I'm often questioned as to what people should (or more importantly should not) be doing with their hard-earned money. I do enjoy cooking, film, and music as well.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Northern Ireland, Spain
