Overview
About Me
I'm a massage therapist and fiction writer. I abandoned having my own apartment in Chicago in 2010, and I gave up even the remnants of a home base when I moved (sorta) to New York in March, 2017. I travel to DC and Chicago on a regular basis for work every month, and I spend the balance of my time roaming nyc.
My reviews from Airbnb routinely describe me as quiet, clean, and polite. I work mightily to leave a small footprint on the places I stay.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been using Airbnb for housing in New York since March, and it's been great. I started looking for more nomadic people to hang out with, and part of that search lead to Couchsurfing.com.

Music, Movies, and Books
Spotify is my source for music. Lots of cellos, scant jazz (and nothing with a horn, thanks), and much "alt" shows up in the lists.
I get out to movies and live theater a few times each week. I like dark and serious over light and comedic.
My reading skews heavily to non-fiction these days, usually some bit of research for my own writing, and much of that is about some aspect of ancient history. When I read fiction, I have a preference for hard sci-fi and fantasy.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I don't think of myself, nor anything I've done, as amazing. The submarine I was attached to escaped port before a hurricane could destroy us, which stands out as something I'd not want to experience again, but was it "amazing"? I don't think that's a call I can make.
Teach, Learn, Share
Given the chance, I will natter on about the nuts and bolts of fiction writing. I can go into sentence diagramming at one end, and I can do literary analysis at the other. Experience has shown that only writers care much about it, and not all writers find it interesting.
