À propos de moi

Hi! My name is Yelin Ko, and I am from South Korea. I am currently in Leeds in the UK, as an exchange student. I study Fahsion design, Merchandising and textiles, and business in Korea, and study Textile design and business here. I came to the UK in September and will go back to Korea in February!!
I am a very talkative person and my friends always tell me that I am a very warm person. I am almost open to everything and love to meet new people.
Oh and I also love to travel. I traveld Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium, and Denmark, alone! Before traveling alone, I was always afraid of exploring new areas alone, but now I am quite good at it.
I like cooking, and eating some local food. I actually didnt' cook that much when I was in Korea because I was always busy. But after coming to Europe, I started cooking because I had plenty of time and energy and feel very happy when I cook.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

As I mentioned above, I traveled around Europe for a month alone, and I am also going to go to Paris, Denmark agian, and Spain in winter. When traveling alone, since I can go to almost everywhere that I wanted to go, and saw so many local people. That is the point where I started desiring experience a life with local people.
And I believed that I can feel the local life in Leeds. However, even though I am in Leeds as an exchange student, I still don't feel I experienced the local life enough. I think that is because I usually hang out with international students who also came to Leeds on exchange program.
So I really want to meet local people and hear their stories, and share some common experiences we might have. I really hope my dream will come true before I go back to Korea through Couchsurfing.

Centres d'intérêt

I love to go to galleries and museum. I think the happiest thing that I felt in the Uk was that I can go to so many galleries which have really good exhibitions for free or with cheap cost. There are many galleries in Korea too, but I think the galleries in the UK are much better.
I love doing some craft things as well. I know it sound really broad, but I really like making things with my hands. For example, I have made bracelets for 7 years. I usually don't keep what I make but do give to friends that I want to appreciate. When I see my friends who love my little thingly, I feel extremely happy.
There are still a lot of things that I like. I love reading, watching movies, cooking, shopping of course, and listening to music. I am not mad at anything in particular, rather I am interested in almost everything.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

My favorite music is K-pop. In Korea, most of people listen to K-pop and it is quite popular in other countrieis too. I also like listening to Jazz. I don't know much about jazz, but I just like the smooth sound and warmth that I feel when listening to jazz.
My favorite movie is About Time and Begin Again. I think I like to watch some movies that help me to regain energy to live, and have lessons in them.
My favorite books are too many, but I would say my favorite author is Guillaume Musso from France. I read most of his books. His books are easy to read, romantic and fancy as well. Oh and I have been reading A Girl In A Pearl Earring right now. I actually read this when I was in Korea, but I wanted to read it in English, so started reading here. It is a new sensation for me, and I think it is much easier for me to understand the originality in English.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I've made a video with my 5 friends in January. It was about new year's resolution. We made it with 10,000 of sticky memos and took thousands of pictures for stop motion. We sleeped and ate together for 3 whole days for the video.
The reason for making this video was because it was a misson from external activities we joined together.
The video got very popular on SNS, such as Facebook, twitter, and so on. Many celebrities in Korea mentioned this video for us. And it finally appeared on News.
There are 3 people who are on the video, and I am one of them. I hope I can show you this and laugh at me.(I look find of funny on the video)

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I will mention it for the last section of this introduction in detail, but let me mention it here first. I can teach cooking Korean food! Korean food looks complicated to cook, but they are not. And the special souces that we use are used for so many food. So it will be a very interesting experience for you.
If you want to learn some Korean basic words or the letters, I can teach them for you as well. I do think Korean letters are very pretty.
I'd love to learn new words from new language you might be able to speak(but doesn't matter at all if you just speak English.), or new food you might be able to cook. And I will be very happy to be introduced your hobby, favorite musician, or favorite movies.

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

While I am here, I missed Korean food very much. So I cooked some Korea food, and all of my friends really liked it. And I am sure you will like it too. :)
I can make Korean food for you and you can give it a try! There are some foods that people who are not Korean particularly like, so I will consider making some of them for you!
As I am very happy with giving a bracelet to people, I can also make a bracelet for you with your favorite color. If you want to learn how to make it, I can show you how to make it! (It is a very good way to get close to people and show your appreciation.)
Other than these, I love to share anything from you as well. Local food, new places, new friends, or anything alse!! I'd more than be happy to share them with you.
