About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make music.

ABOUT ME

Hello!

My name is Erin Rioux. I'm a 24 year old musician/producer and I make electronic music under my last name as Rioux. I was born and raised in the Metro-Detroit area and moved to New York City when I was 18 to go to New York University, where I attended the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music for 4 years.

I currently live in Brooklyn, NY and continue to produce music regularly as my full-time occupation. You can find my music here: https://soundcloud.com/rioux

PHILOSOPHY

Radical Sincerity

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm very much in need of places to stay when I'm touring!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've allowed many new friends to couchsurf at my apartment in Brooklyn, whether it be a foreigner who's exploring New York City, or a friend who needs a place to stay during a transitional moving period.

I've also couchsurfed plenty myself during my trips to Berlin, Prague and Paris and when I played SXSW in Austin, Texas back in 2013.

Interests

Music, visual art, Germany, film, biking, graphic design, Bauhaus, traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some of my musical influences are: Caribou, Talking Heads (David Byrne), Brian Eno, Four Tet, Jamie XX and Flying Lotus.

I'm also a big fan of films made by David Lynch and Alejandro Jodorowsky.

Favorite Books: V. by Thomas Pynchon, Just Kids by Patti Smith, Island by Aldous Huxley

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living abroad as a 16 year old with a host family in South Germany was my first eye-opening global experience. I learned to speak fluent German during that time and later returned to study abroad in Berlin in 2011.
