About Me

I'm a very laid-back and genuine person. I wear my heart on my sleeve. I'm kind, considerate, thoughtful and respectful especially when it comes to staying in other people's homes. I've been a pet and housesitter for over 8 years so I'm a stickler for respecting people's homes and routines/requirements. I've been wanting to make a move to Portland for more than a few years and there is no better time than now. I'm a bit overdue. A friend recently told me about couch surfing so here I am checking it out.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I will be transferring from a Starbucks in Tri-Cities, Wa to a Starbucks somewhere in Portland. Just to start out and get my feet on the ground. I have friends and family in Portland but their living space is limited so I decided to check out this option. I've spent basically my whole life in a small town in the same house and have been growing stir crazy more and more as the years go by. Portland has my heart and is where I truly want to be. I just need to bite the bullet and get myself there and begin my journey of starting a new life there. Since I plan to be working at Starbucks as much as possible I'm more than willing to help out with utilities/groceries/cleaning ect... I'm a sweet person and I actually have a few references from my house and pet sitting days that would be willing to vouch for me and when they have left me in charge of their homes while away on vacations and such. I value trust greatly and I take it as a huge personal compliment when I gain it enough to where someone will open their doors up to me and feel comfortable with my being there. That means a lot to me. I basically am looking for a short to somewhat long-term situation where my host and I can mutually benefit from helping each other out whilst I get solid footing and save up enough money to move into an apt or house I can afford since I imagine my funds will be tight upon arrival. A week long stay wouldn't be the best ideal for me as I need some time to stabilize myself financially once I arrive into town and start working.

Interests

I live for art, music, books. I sing and write songs. Play the piano and guitar though I'm far better at piano. I'm a new agey type person you could say. Open minded. Very conscious of giving and receiving positive energy to and from others. I read tarot cards which I'd be happy to share with any roommates interested. I'm non judgmental and an all around sweetheart who likes to make others smile. I'm also an accomplished poet. I think I write better poetry than songs. Maybe because it comes way more easier to put my feelings into spoken rhythm and rhyme than to write a melody complete with the perfect lyrics.

Music, Movies, and Books

I adore female soul singers. Amy Winehouse, Shania Twain, Mariah Carey (her earlier stuff is the best), Lauryn Hill, Selena, Aaliyah. I was raised on old school country music like Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, Conway Twitty, Pam Tillis, Johnny Cash. My musical tastes are kind of all over the place. Even gospel hymns. Any music that touches my heart or moves my soul. I'm big into fantasy as far as movies and books. Game of Thrones is amazing. I'm currently reading the last book. I'm a huge Anne Rice fan. Currently reading some older Stephen King titles. I recently became a huge fan of Oscar Wilde. I'm open to any suggestions as far as movies, music and books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've had the rare pleasure of sharing a special relationship with one of my favorite bands through the last 12ish years. They're written quite a few songs about things that have occurred between us. It's more of a saga than a story really. The fact a bit of my soul lives in their music is one of the greatest and most sacred honors in my life. I love the fact that when their fans hear and love those songs a bit of my soul lies within the melodies and notes though they may never know. This is a huge honor for me. So I guess I've been a bit of a muse for whatever reason.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm open to learning as much as I can from others. Growing up in a small town I've been rather limited to diversity and variety that life has to offer. That's one of many reasons I'm trying to get myself to Portland. To grow as a person myself and branch out in ways I haven't had the opportunity to in my small town upbringing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm always willing to talk about astrology and numerology. I'm no expert by any means but I find I know a bit more than most people do. There is so much one can learn from both metaphysical arts. I'm also always willing to give a tarot reading. I love opening up people's minds as to what tarot is. Most people have stigmas about it that keep their minds closed. It's always a pleasure for me to open someone's eyes and show them something they didn't know was out there. I'm by no means pushy about these things though. If someone shows interest I will gladly oblige with what I know. If not, I'm not offended. Live and let live and let's respect each other while we're at it.
