Nice to meet you! My name is Ethan Chew and I'm currently an undergraduate pursuing my studies in National University of Singapore (major: Civil Engineering).

I'm an amateur photographer/ videographer and I spend a lot of my free time refining skills on photography (photoshoot and photo edit) and videography (cinematography and video edit).

It takes some time for me to warm up and get used to making new friends because I'm slightly introverted but throughout the years I've been working on expressing myself better. :)

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I was lucky to be given the opportunity to spend a semester in Canada. Having grown up in Asia all my life, this is my furthest journey from home and I'm determined to make it count. After my semester in Canada, I'm intending to travel in the US and Europe before heading back home with photographs and anecdotes of my journey that I'm eager to share with my family, peers and juniors.

I adore listening to stories shared by people because I feel that face-to-face communication is the best way for strangers to establish a connection with each other and become friends. I'm keen to listen to your stories and gain new perspectives of the world (since I'm not able to travel to all parts to witness it for myself). I personally feel that it's the best way that I can get in touch with new cultures and ideologies which shapes me as I constantly work on becoming a better version of myself. If you're interested in skills that I know or listening to my stories, I'd be glad to share them with you!

On the practical end of things, I'm also tied down by the budget constraints as I'm funding my exchange trip by myself. Apart from meeting new people and establishing a connection with them (as explained earlier), I believe that Couchsurfing perhaps provide an avenue for me to explore the world with the constraint I face. I've met many nice people along the way and I firmly believe in the virtue of paying it forward when I have the capacity in the near future.
