** Currently living in Poland and not hosting **
- We host only on weekends (which means: from Friday to Sunday)
- WE HAVE A DOG, so if you are allergic to dogs/animals or don't like animals - we might not be able to host you
- We are not very good with last minute request, so it's best to ask couple of weeks in advance
- Please read my profile carefully before sending a couch request (also my home section)
- If you don't bother to write a proper request or read my profile before sending a request, don't expect us to bother host you
We are getting a lot of surfers asking to stay last minute, during week, place for more than 2 person etc. even though it's clearly written that we can not host more than 2 people, don't do good with last minute requests and don't host during weekdays! Saves a lot of time both us and surfers, if the profile is well read before sending out a request! Please no messages when requesting stay, send a proper couch request. We don't host people, who don't have a profile in CS. I think it's not much to ask for, if we want to know beforehand who we would be hosting. So if you are asking for a couch for you and your friend, who doesn't have a profile in CS, we will decline the request due to safety reasons.
If you are looking for just a place to crash between partying, ours might not be the right choice - we are quite busy with work, which means early morning wake ups throughout the week - and arrivals in the middle of the night are not very suitable for our schedule right now. (we like to party too, but not when there's work waiting in the morning). :)

Phew - now that the rules are explained, we can really start:
Hello everyone! We are a married, tattooed, heavy metal couple from Vantaa (it's next to Helsinki), Finland. \m/
I'm work in the tourism industry. Markus, my husband, works in transport business. When not working, we are probably planning and dreaming of future travels. We have a travel blog called Metallia Matkassa (translates something like "metal travels" - www.metalliamatkassa.com, in Finnish) and really like making videos and photography. Markus loves swimming and is now competing again after over 10 year pause. He's been competing in Montreal (2014), Kazan (2015) and London (2016) FINA World Masters.
Animals are close to our hearts. We have a griffon bruxellois dog called Luumu (his name means "plum" in Finnish). We care for the animal rights and environment, and follow mostly a plant-based diet.
Through my studies I have grown very interested in developing the tourism in Finland. I think we have a great country with lots to see that just needs a little bit more visitors! I am more than happy to show places in my home town and Helsinki to our guests. Also, being a metal head, I know a lot about Hellsinki's metal scene - even made a guide about it, called Hellsinki For Headbangers. You can find the guide from here: http://hellsinkiforheadbangers.com - check it out! \m/
At the moment life is quite busy with lot of stuff going on, so usually on weekdays we like to spend the evenings at home - cooking, watching tv and go walks with Luumu. On free days we like to go to small adventures to nearby places and cities, meet friends, party & go see metal bands playing, have a BBQ on our balcony.. In summer we love visiting festivals - especially the ones with metal bands playing \m/ We also visit the countryside every now and then, year around, and recently have started to like outdoor activities such as hiking. We have some great national parks here in Finland to visit!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After joining CS in 2011, we've met some amazing people from around the world and had the chance to surf in HK, Kuala Lumpur and NYC. I really like CS, though I prefer more hosting than surfing myself. We've hosted bunch of really nice people and some of them became life-long friends with us. However, recently CS has changed and I think not many new users really understand that it's not only about offering free accommodation, but to meet new people, share stories and help a fellow traveler on the side. When I open the doors of my home to a stranger, I expect them to give me something in exchange, and not use my place only as a free hostel. We are busy working, but still try to find time for hosting people, because it's a fun way to get know people all around the world!

We can teach you about Finnish culture and language. I can also teach you Japanese - I used to live in Japan about 10 years ago, one year as an exchange student. Markus is very good in swimming so he can give some tips in swimming techniques (I always ask for them too and then get frustrated when I don't succeed). He also knows a lot about diving stuff.
