About Me

ABOUT ME

I was born in Ningbo, a coastal city only 2 hours' drive by car from Shanghai, China. I'm now currently a visiting Junior student in Columbia University in NYC and will go back to my home university this summer. My university is in another mainland city which is separated from Taiwan only by Taiwan Strait. People used to joke that we students can swim across the strait and go to Taiwan since our campus locates just at the seaside.

I haven't traveled a lot so far since school has kept me too busy too do so(that's the part I dislike the Chinese education system). But I really like travelling since I love meeting different people and get to know their stories as well as exploring different cultures. And this is actually my first time to go out of China and I went to Virginia and Orlando by myself during the spring break of this semester. The overall experience is positive expect that it could have been more fun to hit Disney land with friends!

I think I'm a creative person willing to try new and different things. I'm a terrible cook but I can always come up with brilliant and practical ideas when I'm assisting my mum preparing the dishes!

I wanna my life fulfilled and I think people learn from all the changes in their life. So that's why I step out of my comfort zone to come to study in Columbia in NYC alone after 16-hour flight directly from Shanghai. Life here is not easy since language and culture barriers keep me from further fitting in but I still make lots of new friends and have fun in this sleepless city. I definitely won't regret this unforgettable experience.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm always thinking that I may work for an NGO some day although I'm expected to get in the investment bank as a student from the top business school in China. But I really wanna do it maybe at the day when I have the ability because I wanna do something for the world. Let the world have a little difference because of me, that may sounds naive or ambitious but I simply feel satisfied to see others happy.

I've met foreign people in and out of China and from them I realize there's some misunderstanding between the world and my nation. Make China and the world know each other better, that's my present dream.

Interests

I like going to different places, experiencing different culture and meeting new friends. Besides that, I have really various interests including singing, hiking, reading and cooking(although I don't cook well) since I'm a person always willing to try new things.

Music, Movies, and Books

Well, personally I like romantic movies and books which could bring me pleasant imagination and feelings.

I didn't see a lot foreign movies but I did like the one years ago called which should be in the "Romance" category.

I also like philosophy(mostly Chinese philosophy)and usually try to use it to explain something in my life and relieve my terrible mood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm only 21 and my life so far is mostly inside the ivory tower, so there may not be "super amazing" experience.

Orlando, Florida is my first experience of traveling alone and I didn't stop walking for around 9 hours in the Disney Park there.

I came to New York in the beginning of the year by air from Shanghai, China. It's a 16-hour direct flight and I never wanna do it again. But the thing is I booked the round trip. So a second nightmare is approaching. I'm freaking out!

Teach, Learn, Share

For the language and culture part, Chinese is I can teach and any other foreign including English is the thing I'm willing to learn.

I'm curious about many things. It'll be perfect to share different knowledge and interesting stuff in life with people.
