About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi, I am Federica. I am now living in Paris, and fairly new (I have been here for a couple of months) and would love to meet people here and from all over the world. I have traveled widely throughout Europe and in the US (I lived in America before Paris), and my main interests are writing, literature, and cinema.

PHILOSOPHY

"Il m’a souvent semblé que mon plaisir serait d’aller toujours droit devant moi, sans savoir où, sans que personne s’en inquiète, et de voir toujours des pays nouveaux."

Baudelaire, "Les Vocations" dans Le Spleen de Paris

Interests

Writing, poetry, literature, film, art, and good discussions.

Music, Movies & Books

Books: Any sort of poetry, but particularly Rimbaud (especially "Une Saison en Enfer"), Baudelaire, Verlaine, Rilke, Lorca, Pound, and T.S Eliot. I also like Camus, Dostoevsky, Sartre, Oscar Wilde, Beckett, Nabakov, Herman Hesse, Pessoa, and most anything from the mid/late 1800s onward, but I suppose I know French literature best (I love Madame Bovary).

Movies: "Jules et Jim" by Francois Truffaut is my favorite film. . The second would probably be Fellini's 8 1/2. Actually, there are too many too list, so I am just going to go with a few directors: Truffaut, Fellini, anything by Ingmar Bergman , Jean-Luc Godard (espcially Le Mepris and Pierrot Le Fou), Eric Rohmer, Michelangelo Antonioni, Pasolini, the French New Wave, Werner Herzog, Wim Wenders ("The Sky over Berlin", Philippe Garrel, Jean Eustache's "La Maman et La Putain", the Czech New Wave, etc...basically, European films from the late 50s to the mid/late 80s.

Music: The Smiths, Bon Iver, Grizzly Bear, Fleet Foxes, Phoenix, Beirut, the Clash, The Velvet Underground, Nico, Patti Smith, Girls, Lykke Li, Cults, Bob Dylan, The Talking Heads, Francoise Hardy and 1960s French pop, David Bowie, Billie Holiday, jazz (Miles Davis), classical music (Debussy, Chopin and Tchaikovsky in particular) and so much more. I am going through a late 70s/early 80s British music phase (New Order! Joy Division, etc).

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Wandering about all night in Rome with two friends and seeing the sunrise from the top of the Spanish Steps.
Living in Paris, on a boat.
