I am a 23 y/o Psychology student from Berlin, who loves to do lots of kinds of sports except water sports (fuck yeah, I really need to overcome my watersport issues). I am not particularly good in any of them, but nevertheless quite interested in doing them.
After spending half a year in Amsterdam I got more and more interested in Arts and Culture, even though I am not a bit knowledgeable in this regard, but willing to learn more about it.
I am new at couchsurfing, so I don't have a lot of references, but anyway I am a nice person - and curious about everything. Currently I am learning spanish in order to visit friends in south america, but if you want to teach me any other language you are more than welcome (especially if you want to refresh my French which got somehow lost after leaving school).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am here in order to get to know new people and friends from all over the world, to speak and learn languages other than German/English. Finding more or less secret spots in cities I would never encounter without help from locals. Quite frankly I am also here to be able to afford trips to other places, but of course it is more about the social experience.
Sports - in particular football, table tennis, running, climbing,
Music/Films/Arts - to be honest I am quite stupid with regard to good music, but I love to hear people making music and even talking about it. The same is true for the fine arts and good films - I guess I simply like learning completely new stuff and I can definitivly appreciate a good private lecture, when people are passionate about their interests.
Society/Politics- I am interested and I guess I do know some stuff about it :) (not as in Music/Films/Arts), so I like to discuss current but also historical topics - but I don't have to discuss everything. As in other fields, I know about my limits and would love to learn new perspectives on the world and humans as such
- rock climbing
- table tennis
Music, Movies, and Books
Top 3 Books (... well...I guess... changes quite frequently)
(1) David Foster Wallace - Infinite Jest [in the German translation - Unendlicher Spaß]
(2) Hermann Hesse - The Glass Bead Game [in the German original version: Das Glasperlenspiel]
(3) John Lanchester - Capital
Music, as mentioned earlier... I am not to knowledgeable, but some songs which always get me...
Soundgarden - Black Whole Sun, Radiohead - Creep, The stooges - I wanna be your dog, The Smiths - This Charming Man, Janis Joplin - Summertime, Iggy Pop - The Passenger, The Clash - London Calling, The Rolling Stones - Painted Black, The Rolling Stones - I can get no satisfaction, The White Stripes - Jolene, The Black Keys - Your Touch, Cake - Comissioning a Symphony in C, Queen Bohemian Rapsody, Jimi Hendrix - Foxey Lady, Cream - Crossroads
and from time to time, danceable indie like Arcade Fires - I bet that you look good on the dance floor, the kooks - last nite. ...
Movies... recently Locke, Boyhood, The Salt of the Earth, Carnage, ... earlier Syriana. There are a lot of classics I definitivly need to watch.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In the past I worked a lot with children and it somehow feels like it actually changed something and in the hindsight it was pretty amazing. But there is not much to tell in terms of epic memories, I am afraid.
