CURRENT MISSION

Meet interesting people from around the world, explore New York and beyond

ABOUT ME

Well hello! I'm Bryan, a 29 year old native New Yorker living in Manhattan, originally from Long Island. When I'm not volunteering, traveling or meeting new people, I'm working as a software developer at an investment bank.

My interest in travel and Couchsurfing came after I took my first trip abroad to Italy, France, and Spain about two years ago. I have always been interested in technology, and Couchsurfing makes good use of it to bring people together. On my trip I met many interesting and fun people from around the world and thought it would be good to meet new people even when I am at home.

As far as my personality goes, I am fairly laid back and open minded. I always like to look at other peoples perspectives on things. If you meet me, I will spend your stay thinking about how I can make things fun for you. I think having company when exploring new places and things makes it that much more memorable. If I stay with you, I'll usually be willing to return the favor by paying for you to come along on some of my adventures - it's the least I can do! I enjoy conversation and learning new things.

PHILOSOPHY

Social interaction, meeting new people, and having new experiences are all very important to me. Life is all about new experiences, especially the ones you can share with others.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I offer my play to stay as I know how prohibitive it can be to spend money on hotels. It offers me a chance to do what I think I do well, and that is to host someone and make sure they are entertained. I think we can make the world a smaller place through the use of technology. Everyone should get a chance to travel the world without worrying about money or feeling lost in a new place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started out doing some surfing in the US and met some great hosts. Now that I live in Manhattan, I try to host when I can, as well as be a part of the local CS community.

Interests

Exploring the city, finding interesting people and places, the beach, walks, hockey, photography, nightlife, comedy, concerts

I work in technology so lots of things related to this including web development, application development, social networking, and keeping up on new technologies.

My other major hobby is guitar. I like to play a wide variety of music from rock to Spanish folk music. I am still a beginner but hope to progress.

Music, Movies & Books

Music:
-Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, Say Anything, The Format, Panic at the Disco, New Found Glory, Motion City Soundtrack, Weezer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Saves the Day, Fallout Boy, The Postal Service, Head Automatica, Jack Johnson, Kanye West, JayZ, MJ, assorted rap, Gypsy Kings, Ottmar Liebert and assorted Spanish folk

Basically, I'm open to all types.

Movies: Wall Street, Anchorman, Training Day, Waynes World... anything from comedies to action.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

When I visited Colombia I got the chance to rappel down a waterfall and go cave diving all in the same weekend... it was quite an experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak Spanish, so I could teach you some.

I am also very good with computers, so feel free to bring your broken laptop to me! On my last trip I helped a host fix her old laptop.

I know the basics of guitar and the main chords. I'd be glad to show you.
