explore, observe, think.. don't die before you're dead!
I'm a reader, traveller, thinker.. I like meeting new people, discovering new cultures and also value time spent on my own. I was born in İstanbul but also studied and worked as an English teacherin London for 9 years. I've recently got back to İstanbul and realised again what an amazing city it is. Yet, I like being on the go and I've already got itchy feet! Luckily, my job allows me to travel and teach around the world. I have Spain in mind as my next home, time will show! Meanwhile I keep myself busy with my new passion, marbling, a magical traditional eastern art form. It requires lots of perseverence and knowing how to let go, very useful in deed!
As long as you don't mix beer with wine, you're fine!Don't start a sentence with 'if I were you'. Try to find beauty in unexpected places. Look for beauty, it'll come and find you.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'd like to join some interesting events in İstanbul or anywhere else if it's within reach. I'm considering going on a holiday in exotic places as well as exploring different parts of Spain, especially Barcelona. I'd welcome any tips from the Couchsurfers!
I haven't had any yet but all I hear is good things.
I enjoy spending time with friends or having quality 'me' time. I'm into literature, music and films. I like discovering new artists, new directors. It saddens me to think that one's lifetime isn't long enough to read all the books worth reading.. I go for long walks taking photos and visiting galleries and cafes.
Music, Movies, and Books
I'm into French and Italian films of the 60s, Wim Wenders, Bergman, Lynch. I like existentalists like Sartre, Dostoyevsky, Kafka and Orhan Pamuk. I'm still trying to finish Proust's 'In the search for lost time,' finally reached the 4th volume in 4 years! Love alternative rock, Nick Cave, Tindersticks, Jayjay Johanson, Miles Davis, Nigel Kennedy and the list goes on..
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I bumped into Nick Cave and Brett Anderson queuing up next to each other in Victoria Station, London and none of them acknowledged the other! I was too busy thinking which one to approach first for an autograph.
Teach, Learn, Share
My job is to teach English but I'm also trying to learn French and Spanish. Anyone with a recipe of making a tasty but practical pasta dish?
