About Me

Hi, I'm Franki and the fella in the picture is my boyfriend Rob.

We're two journalists in our early 30s and on October 21 we quit our jobs on national British newspapers to go travelling around the world. Outside of our work we love music, food (and cooking), coffee, art, books, fashion, football...

We love staying with locals - we've stayed in some fantastic places while holidaying at home in Europe and we're excited to be exploring further afield, staying in some cool places, and meeting some interesting people.

We look forward to meeting you,

Franki & Rob

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We've taken a year out of our working lives to go travelling around the world and like most backpackers, we're on a tight budget!

But it isn't just about the money. We love meeting new people, exploring the local side of life and getting to know places from an insider's point of view. And, one day, when we go back to London, we hope to be able to offer the same to other travellers.

Interests

Art, design, music, food, cooking, football (Rob), yoga (Franki), coffee, vintage and antiques, wine, reading, people, politics, travel (obviously!)... basically all the fabulous things the world has to offer.

Music, Movies, and Books

Radiohead, Stevie Wonder, Queens of the Stone Age, Jimi Hendrix, Jack White, Patti Smith, David Bowie, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Cinema Paradiso, Leon, The Fifth Element, The Wind Up Bird Chronicle, Kafka, Germinal (and Zola generally), Margaret Atwood... this list could go on and on!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The world is full of amazing things... it's impossible to choose just one. To be honest quitting our jobs to go travelling felt pretty mega at the time. Since then driving Argentina's Ruta 40 4000km through the deserted plains of Patagonia has probably been our biggest adventure.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We love cooking so if you let us loose in your kitchen we will happily whip up a feast for everyone!

Rob can play piano and drums so if there's music to be had, he's always happy to get involved. We're full of recommendations for all the places we've been so far and we'll both talk your ears off when it comes to books and music!

If all else fails, you can always count on us to turn up with a bottle of wine!

Countries I’ve Lived In

Greece, Italy, United Kingdom
