About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore, connect, create...Laugh A LOT

ABOUT ME

I quite my job of 5 years and moved from Santa Barbara (7 years), last February. Since then I have been experimenting with living my life in a much different way then I have before. What is left of my "stuff" is in storage and I am taking time to just take time and do all the things I did not have time for before. I worked on an organic farm for 5 months, finished a permaculture design coarse and have been able to spend time with friends and family. Currently I am interested in exploring art and creativity, and decided some travel would get me in gear. Among all kinds of arts and crafts I enjoy photography (35mm film), drawing and recently would really like to do some embroidery. I am kind of searching I guess - but not really looking for anything in particular - just happy to have eyes and to be able to look.

PHILOSOPHY

Everyday is a brand new day. Meet everyone as a new person everyday. Smile and laugh - life is journey and an experiment...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to this so am not sure what this means - but I am definitely a supporter of participation. If I had a place / when I have a place again I would love to host "couch surfers" - I think is is such a beautiful way to bring a community of like minded people together from all over.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

About ten years ago when I traveled in Cuba I loved that we stayed in "Casa Particulars" - essentially a room in a families home. It was so intimate and nice to be part of these peoples lives. In general I always have stayed with friends or friends of friends where ever I have gone. I have met some of my best friends this way. I love is when a friend recommends a friend and you get follow a thread of connection.

Interests

drawing, swimming in bodies of water, cooking, eating with friends, watching things grow - especially the first little sprouts of something, vintage photographs of other peoples relatives, Michelangelo Antonio, French New Wave, sewing, finding treasures on the beach (yesterday I found a dried up seahorse), I love hikes in beautiful places, words, book binding, music with a heart beat, folk music, homeopathy, herbs and edible plants, stretching and breathing, sailing, Mexico, New Mexico, the east coast, building things with reclaimed wood, birds...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In high school some friends and I bought white wedding dresses at the thrift store and went swimming in the phosphorescent tides. It was absolutely one of the most beautiful magical moments of my life.
Recently - crawling out on the tinniest ledge at the grand canyon and watching the sun set alone.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can knit and draw and cook. I know this little trick to get four people to lift another person with their finger tips. I am a graphic designer, I can make repeat patterns.
I am interested in learning a craft from someone or just seeing different ways people live and get by in the world. I love cooking with people to learn how they make delicious creations in the kitchen
