Overview
About Me
I am an easy-going, food-affine traveler, addicted to the sun and the sea. Since 1999, I have been living more time outside my native Germany than inside. Only within the last years I have become more steady living in Berlin - I guess because the world is now around me in this city. But I need to get out from time to time.
I used to work as lecturer for international students in universities Mannheim and Berlin and doing research on the precedessors of internet governance and journalism. At one point I realized that I prefer working with lively students over reearching the doings of dead people in history - that is why I decided to switch from academia to become a teacher.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A cool way to travel - I'd love to meet and talk to local people outside tourist-trodden paths. I believe in sharing, celebrating, talking and learning. Plus, I've been working a lot with refugees over the past three years (mostly teaching German) and would like to learn more about cultures in North Africa and the Middle East.
Music, Movies, and Books
Everything which is beautiful, hand-made.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I wrote a book. A year ago, I founded with friends a cafe for refugees to practice talking German, now we internationalized and hosting people from all over the world two times a week.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, I am teaching history, politics, German and English - happy to share that. I want to learn more about cultures outside the West.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My skills as a cook, my love for hand-made music, my knowldedge in history and politics.
