About Me

Trying to know what I can do best.

I believe I am a nice guy. I can be a bit cranky at times when things aint going fine with me. I am very welcoming. I can confidently say that I am a learner. I like meeting new people. I like learning languages. I have been brought up in a very Indian environment where things are a bit closed. My father being a very open minded person has influenced me the most. I am a God fearing man but not confined to any one religion. I love going around. I haven't travelled much. I would like to travel as much as possible. I think that is the best thing for an adventurous and rocking personality such as myself. I am a person who you'll meet and like or dislike...but not ignore or forget.

I have personally experienced that, it is better to stay at one place for not more than two days. If planning to stay for more than two, start sharing expenses from Day 1. Buy some groceries and other stuff which will make the hosts happy and you wouldn't be a burden. It will give a family feel and make the stay better. Learn the basic few sentences in the hosts language. When you are a guest, you take the linguistic strain and not put it on the host.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like this system. Frankly because of money issues and socialisation. I being from India, am very conscious about the money I spend. I have accommodated friends at home just to save their hotel costs. Spending GBP 20-30 a night in a hotel is really outrageous for a student. Then, socialisation becomes difficult in a new place if there is nobody you know. The CS project helps solve that problem too. The whole idea is nice as it makes the stay in another place a lot more comfortable in everyway. I think I will continue with it even when I leave my studentship and become a professional. I really wouldn't mind accommodating people once in a while.

I come from a very warm and welcoming country. Even though I live in a city, I have had meals at peoples homes whom I had met just 3 hours before the meal. Though it was not a night stay, it meant a lot to me. I have only stayed at college buddies homes in South of India.

I haven't travelled in any country other than the UK or India. Would like to gain more experience.

Cycling, I am a movie buff. Music. Hanging out with friends. I do some other stuff once in a while but am mostly busy with the above.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a facebook profile albert.aloysius .. chek the movies section .... That is only 4%of the list .... so you'll know.... Music ... I have been self learning the Guitar for last 3 years. But I love good music from any genre. I used to have a good reading habit. I like Dan Brown type and Frerich Forsyth .... Internet and Movies have shadowed over my love for books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I quit smoking in February 2009 after 7 years of tobacco use. I used to smoke a pack a day till the day I gave up. Since then, I haven't smoked n am really proud of it. would even put it on my CV someday. I have decided not to buy diamonds in my lifetime because of it's sources.

I have seen parents of friends who are labourers, feed a big group of college students and still be happy about it. I felt inferior to them as human beings and still feel the same after 5 years.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach how to cook Indian food ... I can share my knowledge of where I come from. But, I know there is a whole lot to learn.
