I'm leaving California and moving to Chicago. I'm trying to get back a little closer to my family and I'd like to get out of the suburbs and in to a new city where there's some stuff happening.
Complex, but not always complicated.
I like it when there's music playing.
I like to make some music myself. I play guitar, drums and bass. I do a little singing now and then.
I am dedicated to my bike as primary means of transportation.
I read a book now and then. I rarely ever find myself wasting my time on bad literature. The most recent exception being Atlas Shrugged. I found it used at a second hand store and had to find out what it was really about. Can you believe I read over 600 pages? Whatever, Ayn. Whatever...
I don't do much seeking in life, but I relish discovery. That is why I'm moving out of town. I want to be in a new place where my every day experiences will be full of newness for quite a while.
My personal philosphy?
I try to keep it simple. I'm always learning a little bit more about what I need and what I can do without.
Why do I live my life?
I'm not ready to die.
Yes, I have them. I'm still not sure what to make of them, so I probably shouldn't dump them on anybody else.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
As I am hoping to use this site as a means of settling in to a community my participation would be to fill the role of gracious guest and helpful member of my new community.
Once I get settled in the city I hope to be able to return the favor.
I never really couch surfed with strangers before. This is going to be something new for me.
Music, literature, random stuff I don't already know.
Music, Movies, and Books
I don't watch movies much these days.
My taste in music is a bit eclectic, but in the end I'm just a rock 'n roller. High energy high volume gets me every time.
Recent reads have been by David Foster Wallace, Herman Hesse, Italo Calvino and David Sedaris. Other authors I dig include Vonnegut, Steinbeck, McCarthy, Franzen, Dostoyevsky, Kafka, and Nabokov, to name a few.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I gave up a comfortable suburban life and a stable job in order to do something else. I didn't know what that something else was. The amazing journey continues.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can speak Italian. I probably couldn't teach you, but I could share with you the strategies and tools I used to become fluent.
I've been playing music since I was a kid. Again, I may not be able to teach you to do what I do, but I can share my ideas about art and creativity.
I've also learned a lot of random stuff about life in the last ten years or so that have really changed my direction. Want to know, just ask.
