About Me

I don't know man, travel and do comedy and shit like that.

"FunnyDude" is just a username, I am in no way that pretentious. See how modest I am?

I think and dream a lot. I am fascinated by people, encounters and conversation. I used to be shy but I have pretty much overcome that. I think traveling and stand up comedy helped a lot.

I'm all for peace and love and all that stuff, you can tell by my long hair even though I don't smoke weed. OK, it may have happened on some rare occasions, but one must be proud of never having done heroin. Be even prouder if you have and then quit. But don't try to start and then quit just to feel good about yourself, although who am I to give any life advice. But I swear my hair isn't long for the purpose of looking like a hippie or a time traveler. I just have to let it grow in case I run out of toilet paper OH MY GOD WHAT A JOKE.

I play some ukulele and I'd love to learn many other instruments but everyone knows it's not gonna happen. Talking about my skills would be difficult, but I could tell you about my lack of them or about my desire to acquire them, such as the ability of speaking other languages.

I guess those are enough things to know for now. Nothing says that I'm the best person to describe myself. I guess you'll have to see for yourself or whatever. Why am I even trying to promote myself?

I guess I don't care why I'm here, but let's say my purpose is to have fun, love, be happy and make people happy. Does that sound cool enough?
I would love more kindness and more smiles, less judging and more openness.
How the fuck is that a personal philosophy though? Go figure. No one said what I wrote had to make sense.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I try to attend events and meet people from CS from time to time, at home and abroad. Can't host yet but looking forward to being able to do so.

I've surfed a few times, mostly in Northern Europe and also in Iran.

I'm interested in lots of stuff but I guess right now I'm mostly focused on stand up comedy. I've performed a few times at open mics (NYC, London, Malmö, Tartu, Amsterdam, Paris), looking into doing it more regularly to actually make something out of it.

Since I'm not deaf, I sometimes listen to music, as most people do.

I'm interested in lots of stuff, but I don't feel like listing any more things at the time of writing.

Music, Movies, and Books

If you come into my room, you'll find me masturbating. Just kidding (or am I?). You'll find books on religion, science, linguistics, sexuality and some other stuff (if I say even a tiny bit of philosophy and politics you might think I'm smart which I'm probably not), as well as a shitload of DVDs (including a few shitty ones probaby). But don't come into my room, seriously. Only I do that (and let's not make disgusting puns).

Regarding movies, I'm into directors such as Woody Allen, Jim Jarmusch, Quentin Tarantino, the Coen Brothers, Spike Jonze, and many more. In other words, I share the same tastes as millions of individuals. I also like Hollywood stuff like Spielberg's movies, and American comedies like Judd Appatow's. I once went to see an experimental German movie and a Romanian one to try and be open so I suppose you could say I make some effort.I listen to rock, metal, folk, classical music and pretty much anything that sounds good to me I guess. I'm very much into music from the 50s/60s. And however unpleasant that fact may be to my loved one, I do enjoy a bit of jazz.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hey, let's be cliché here for a bit. I fell in love. Amongst all the things that I have done, surely that must be the most important one. I swear, you should try it if you haven't already. I met her through InterPals, spent a most amazing platonic night in a park with her, platonically waited two and a half years to see her again, and now we're pretty much the cutest couple out there.

Other than that, however, I suppose I should state the fact that I performed stand up comedy for the first time in NYC when I ended up there by myself at 16 for some reason. I try to perform here and there when I can. Tartu was pretty cool too.

I made the mistake of hitchhiking in Finland during the month of March. Hitchhiking is pretty awesome in general. Wild camping and not knowing where to sleep, too.

I went to Tehran and made some really cool friends. Russia was pretty weird too. I guess I simply met very lovely people pretty much everywhere I went.

I quit school at an early age (can't say how well it turned out yet).

I was lucky enough to do some traveling (which I suppose is no surprise considering the existence of my profile on this very website). More will have to follow.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I speak french, so if you wanna learn it I guess I can help (I'd be glad to !).I guess I know lots of things, but can't come up with anything specific just like that. I know things about movies, religion, evolution and the galactic space, as well as random stuff, but I'm no expert in anything. Actually, wait, I'm probably not a good source of knowledge. Let's talk, we'll see! :)One thing I can say is I like to feed my brain.I can't touch my nose with my tongue and I can't lick my elbow. I'm afraid of how much I lack of skills. I do play some ukulele though. And I can teach you some basic krav maga stuff.Anything taught by anyone is good. Well, except if you're in school under the Third Reich.
