About Me

Hey, my name's Gabriel Concepcion. I've been employed at PERC Shelter as a social worker working directing with the homeless for nearly four years. Recently I've decided to take a hiatus in my career in order to seek out new friends, places, experiences, and lifestyles. To that end I'll be leaving my position at the shelter and traveling indefinitely beginning mid-November of 2016.

I know my pics are awful, it's an ongoing problem. Rarely get photographed, even more rarely by myself, and even more rarely in a flattering why. My selfie game is so incredibly weak it's not even worth attempting any more. But I know quality pictures go a long way; we can absolutely video chat whenever and feel free to offer your photography services my way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's hard to say why I'm on Couchsurfing without having experienced Couchsurfing and it's users firsthand; or I guess that would be why I continue to use Couchsurfing, but I expect that I'll find a community of likeminded individuals - down to earth, open, and vibrant.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I'll have a kindle on hand with American Gods (Neil Gaiman) in it always, everything else varies and I'm all over the place. Nasty habit of not finishing books, too. Currently reading Ficciones (Jorge Luis Borges) and Repetition (Rebecca Reilly).

Movies: Something of a movie buff, if it's widely considered good or great I'll probably like it. Except I hated the widely lauded Insomnia (Al Pacino, Robin Williams).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked 3,700 ft up the side of Cerro Chato, a dormant cousin volcano to the Arenal volcano of Costa Rica. It's a very, very steep and difficult climb. A lagoon has formed in the crater, the descent to which was even more difficult than the climb, if considerably shorter . There I was challenged to submerged myself in one of the most frigid waters I've come across and met the challenge. Me and my group ran all the way back down and directly into the pool of the waterfall at the volcano's base.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll teach you how to dance, I've got a broad rang and never get bored of it. I'm no professional or anything approaching it but you'll definitely have fun.

Know a couple of coin manipulations and I'll be working on some tricks soon, would gladly teach.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm generous with whatever I've got on hand and have stories for days.
