About Me

Hello, salut, hola, مرحبا !

My name is Gabrielle, I'm Lebanese, 20 years old.

I'm currently living in Prague to study filmmaking, and want to make the best of it to travel around and meet people and different cultures.

I would have loved to be able to accept guests, but unfortunately I'm living in a very small 1-person studio.

I'm French educated, but fluent in English and Arabic. (I also know a few sentences in Spanish if it counts)

I've been playing football for the past 13 years now and I love it, I played with the Lebanese Women's National Team for a while, and have been a member of the same club for the past 4 years with which we won 2 national leagues and 2 cups :)

I like movies and photography, beer, Stanley Kubrick, cats, Neil Gaiman, all sorts of music, Gaspar Noe, Xavier Dolan, and most of all: travelling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I still haven't had any couchsurfing experience through the website, but can't wait to start!

I believe that the best way to discover a country is to meet locals and see the city through their eyes and experiences.

I want to get to know and learn from people from different cultures and backgrounds, because I think this is how you grow as a person.

Couchsurfing is so much more than sleeping in someone's house instead of a hostel; it's the perfect opportunity for a cultural exchange that no other accommodation type can provide.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite author is Neil Gaiman. I'm actually convinced he's my brain soulmate. (if you haven't read anything by him try his Sandman comics, trust me, they're amazing, or his fiction American God)

I also enjoy Edgar Allen Poe, and for some poetry, Arthur Rimbaud.

When you study filmmaking, it's really hard to pick a favorite movie.
I'd have to go for Moulin Rouge, just because of my emotional attachement to the movie (it's the first movie I've ever watched in a movie theater)
Other than that, if I had to pick 10 movies that I really like I'd say:
Love, Gaspar Noe
Amadeus, Milos Forman
Requiem for a Dream, Darren Aronofsky
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Milos Forman
Léon: The Professional, Luc Besson
Dreams, Akira Kurosawa
A Clockwork Orange, Stanley Kubrick
Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain, Jean-Pierre Jeunet
Le Mépris, Jean-Luc Godard
Annie Hall, Woody Allen

I like all kinds of music, from classical, to rock, punk, R&B, electronic, house, some metal (mostly symphonic), acoustic, alternative, folk, latin, rap, jazz, blues.....

It's really a matter of the song, and I'm always up to discovering new things!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is a hard one.
It's hard to tell.

I consider travelling like the best experiences I've had.

Might sound cheesy, but falling in love should definitely be on that list.

I recently also went through something that really shaped who I am today, and being able to make a movie about that was something that really mattered to me.

I'm gonna have to keep thinking about that.
