About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to figure myself out

ABOUT ME

I'm a high school graduate, class of 2014. While the kids at my school are headed straight for uni in the states, I'm headed for the world.

I'm adventurous, I want to see/do/experience everything. Stopping through a city and looking at the tourist attractions is not the same as staying in a city, seeing it through the eyes of those who live there. I strive to understand, to know that which the books can't teach.

I'm 18, a twin, and have three brothers. I like rare steak with enough salt to give myself a heart attack. I'm slightly socially awkward, yet have friends around the world. My phone got stolen in January of 2014, and I never bothered to replace it. As a direct result, I've had to actually talk to people, which has improved my communication skills tenfold.

PHILOSOPHY

The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page. - St. Augustine

I want to read the whole book. I live for the places I'm in, the places I've been, and the places I'll go.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't participated in anything yet, as I cannot host because I live with my family of 6. It is also very hard for me to attend events in Houston because of working two jobs, one part time and one full time.

Interests

I'm a traveller - I always have been and always will be. I like reading anything and everything, learning as many random facts as I can. Taking pictures of the mundane and the extraordinary, even though I'm not very good.

I read just about anything and everything.

I horseback ride, and would be a-okay spending an entire week at the barn.

Music, Movies, and Books

Musically - everything. I go through phases - country, British punk rock, French electronic, American pop, hard rock, Billy Joel, foreign rap.

Literature - everyone from the ALA's Banned Books List

Movies - grew up on Star Wars (sorry Trekkies). Obviously, the Harry Potter movies, the Princess Bride is a classic, and Christopher Nolan's Batman. Disney's new Frozen is to die for, and I'm including t.v. shows on this, because SHERLOCK and GoT. Tyrion forever.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

South East Asia. What an experience. From the Reunification Palace in Saigon to the overgrown Ta Prohm, and the lights of Bangkok, spending 3 weeks in SE Asia was easily one of the best experiences of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know how to fly to 10 different airports in order to get home. I can watch Game of Thrones for 12 hours straight. I bake a delicious apple pie, and I'm told my chocolate chip cookies are pretty good as well. I can do texmex, which, sorry, pretty much sucks everywhere outside of Texas, and I've got the pancake recipe memorized - the only breakfast food worth eating.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Australia, Belize, Cambodia, Canada, France, Ireland, Netherlands, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
