One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i was riding a motorcycle across Utah being chased by a violent thunderstorm. i went from highway to highway, around mountains, across rivers and down valleys. every time i thought i was going away from the rain and hail i would find it in front of me again. east of Moab the road turned right into it's path and i could see that there was no escape. the road led me down a long slope to a valley which i could not see the full size of. as i reached the floor the clouds were above me like a mile high cliff. there was lightning and wind and the rain was just beginning to fall on me. i could feel its weight, it's power. just at the moment when i was being overtaken the road turned to the east, to blue skies and prairie. my heart raced. i pulled the bike out of it's turn and opened up. i looked straight up and saw the black wall of clouds over my head. and slowly it receded behind me as i sped out onto the straight road. i could see the sheets of rain in my mirrors, the lightning on the hills to my back. i felt like the Millennium Falcon flying from the doomed Deathstar. it was pretty cool
