To set a couch-testing world-record. And to meet cool people in America and around the world.
I'm pretty laid-back and easy to get along with. I seem to be the go-to guy for pet-sitting. I've backpacked through Europe after college, so I caught the no-frills travel bug early on. Love getting out of NY into woods, lakes, mountains or rustic cabins with zero electronic messaging.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Don't know yet as I'm new at this. I am a native New Yorker and I think I'd enjoy talking to visitors about what it's like to grow up here. And while I know the tourist sites I can also show people some interesting spots off the grid.
My best experience was meeting an Austrian guy named Franz while I was backpacking. We met in Copenhagen and he invited me to stay at his family'd Guest House in the Australian Alps. I got to meet his friends, hike the mountain in his backyard. This personal and informal visit was the highlight of my trip. I was so grateful for his hospitality.
Bicycling, reading, theater, running, hiking, writing, kayaking, music, travel, museums, yoga, hanging out with friends.
Music, Movies, and Books
I am on page 56 of In Search of Lost Time and have vowed to read all of it. Moby Dick is my favorite novel, and I also enjoy non-fiction (just read Bryan Mealer's book about the Congo). Like progressive rock, country, contemporary classical, Johnny Cash, Pomplamoose, White Stripes, Billy Childish, The Handsome Family, John Adams, Cat Power, etc...

Teach, Learn, Share
As a native New Yorker I think I'd be able to offer a personal window onto what it's like to grow up here. Since I'm a playwright I'd be glad to discuss the theater scene in New York and learn about theater in other countries
But I'd also like to learn from people involved in various professions. I'd love to sit down with a botanist as well as a professional cyclist, student, architect, whatever. You get the picture.
