Never tried couch surfing before but eager to try it out. Traveled a lot, and love making city trips over the weekend. Interested in: history, politics, journalism, architecture, the beach, French cuisine. I love urban exploring: visiting abandoned sites such as industrial plants, churches, military sites, etc and taking photos of that. I like nerdy stuff, such as board games and collecting mugs of historical celebrities. I read books, and do some sports (boxing, yoga). During a city trips I usually spend my time making extraordinary long walks through cities to see each and every quarter, and an occasional museum. In the night I like to hang around in bars, listen to music and drink beer.
And let's not forget to mention: I'm an easy-going guy, nice to hang out with but respective of the host's nightrest (a non-smoker too).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Getting to know people and cities, obviously. Hotels are boring. Can't sleep on boxsprings. Love couches.
- board games
- french food
- nature walks

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Drive around in a T-34 tank in Belarus.
No, not really. They asked 500 euros for the tank ride back then. Which I found too much at the time. What a lost opportunity (sigh)! I have had an audience once with Pope John Paul II though. And there's a picture of me and Obama's dog Bo in the White House.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: history lessons. If I wouldn't have the job I'm in now, I'd be a history teacher.
Learn: je voudrais améliorer ma français. And I would love to learn to dance well - I'll be a slow student though, I'm afraid :)
Share: my superiour knowledge of The Hague, obviously. I know every bar and every building (well... most of them I dare say). But for that you would have to come to The Hague.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Drinks, laughs and long conversations. Of course, I can also cook you a really nice Dutch stamppot. But for some reason I don't understand Dutch cuisine is seldomly appreciated by foreigners... :)
