ABOUT ME

I have been a travel enthusiast for a long time. I just found out about this group and it sounds great. Started traveling a lot when I was a kid, and kept it up as I got older. So if you want to know the specifics about me, here goes. Graduated from MIT in 1990 and was an active duty USMC officer for four years, during which time I traveled so many places I can't even remember them all. Much of it was in East Asia and the Middle East. Then went to law school, started a firm with another lawyer, and have been practicing bankruptcy law and criminal defense since 1999. But believe me, life is not about the mundane work. I live for my travel and life experiences.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

The following recent movies really made an impression on me: The Beat That My Heart Skipped, Dead Man's Shoes, The Lives of Others, Cache (Hidden). Of course I've loved tons of movies and couldn't live without Netflix. I could write down twenty of my favorites here, easily. But these are just a few that jump into mind. And for books? You know the deal...just too many to list here. Basically I try to read as much biography, history, and popular science I can get.

My one advice to any non-American citizen visiting the US is to read D.H. Lawrence's "Studies in Classic American Literature". A vastly underappreciated book. He has more insight into American culture and literature than anyone I've ever seen.

I could share knowledge of a lot of subjects: any legal subject, public speaking skills, how to start a business, esoteric mysticism, physical training techniques, and many other things.
One thing I'd like to learn from someone else is the art of brewing beer.
