About Me

I grew up in a family with two siblings who I have a very close relationship to and five cousins in the city of Düsseldorf, Germany. I left home after High School with 19 years and then lived in Münster, Berlin, Edinburgh (Scotland) and on an island in the very north of Germany called Sylt. I started traveling about a year and a half ago as a backpacker in Australia, Thailand and Indonesia.
After I finished my Bachelor of Arts in Communication I worked as a PR junior in a big media company - but as I couldn't stand sitting in front of a computer screen 8 hrs a day I quit. That simply didn't have anything to do with my definition of communication. I am very outgoing and social interaction is what makes me feel good and happy. I simply need to have people around me. So I worked as the manager of a Spanish Tapas and Wine Bar for a while - i loved that job as I met new people every day and even if hospitality can be quite stressful sometimes it's just a lot of fun to make people happy with simple things like good food or a welcoming smile.

I am know traveling and getting to know the beauty of New Zealand's nature, culture and people. I love to be outdoors, so I've always dreamt to come to NZ. As i love gardening and am highly interested in the philosophy of permaculture and sustainable living I spend a lot of time wwoofing on organic farms.
I enjoy to meet locals and get to know their lifestyle as much as I am always happy to be on the road and meet other backpackers who share my passion for exploring the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Sharing is caring, ay.
It's a good way to welcome travelers in your home country. Unfortunately I haven't been able to host people so far, as I moved a lot the past years. But I was lucky to use couchsurfing.org as a guest while I traveled Australia last year and I met unbelievably nice people through that.

As soons as I can I'll give back.

Interests

I love to draw and paint.
I am interested in permaculture and a sustainable lifestyle is important to me. I love live music, concerts, festivals.
I enjoy being outdoors and loooove camping! There's nothing better than setting up your tent in the middle of nowhere, underneath the stars and sitting around a campfire.
I enjoy cooking and, especially, baking. I am vegetarian and try to live sugar-free as much as possible, so I cook fresh and organic and without any processed sugar - which is quite hard sometimes while traveling. My diet may sound quite complicated, but I am just trying to be healthier and more conscious about what I eat.
I'm also a big, big fan of good coffee.
