About Me

I'm a young professional who moved here to the US recently.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Socializing is a bit of a challenge to me. I'm pretty shy, so I'm putting myself out there, or here, to meet new people. Looking for new friends to meet and hang out with.

Interests

I'm a biochemist. A self-taught bassist. I loove beer. I'm a huge nerd for many things: Star Wars, movies, tv shows. I love watching movies especially sci-fi, fantasy, some oldies (The Godfather is my all-time favorite). I've read a good many books, I'd say sci-fi & fantasy mostly. Music festivals and events are also my thing. I play some sports: basketball, volleyball, table tennis, ultimate frisbee, table tennis, & futsal.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music interests range from blues, jazz, soul, hip-hop, rock, metal, & classical. I love listening to Coltrane, Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Marcus Miller, Wu-Tang Clan, Eminem, Notorious B.I.G., AC/DC, Lamb of God, Bring Me the Horizon, Mastodon, John Mayer, Angels & Airwaves, Vivaldi to name a few.

For movies there's The Godfather of course! Princess Mononoke (love Ghibli), Back to the Future, Star Wars (yes, all of them), Interstellar, The Pianist, John Wick, Lord of the Rings, there's too many. I like World War II films, action films, sci-fi, fantasy, high fantasy, rom-coms. Well there's a lot.

For books, again The Godfather. And fantasy + sci-fi as well. The Foundation, Dune, Lord of the Rings, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, A Visit from the Goon Squad. Can't recall all of them right now.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I travelled on the road with my sister to a mountain that has dangerous passes (think 1.5 lanes), with no guard rails for most of the part when nearing the place, a sheer drop off a cliff when you look out the window. We wanted to go there because there's a small village in the mountain where the last "mambabatok" of the Philippines lives. She does traditional, hand-tapped tattoos.
And we did get our tattoos. It was amazing.
