About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a scientist. I'm working on efficiently harvesting the energy from the sun using relatively cheap materials, so I can save humanity (but it will probably never work). I'd also like to build some sort of doomsday device so I can extort money from rich people, but it's hard to get funding for that. If I could do anything, I'd try to figure out what dolphins and whales sing about because they were able to communicate over vast distances before we filled the oceans with noise pollution. Whalesongs are very similar to human compositions, in that they are hierarchical. Songs consist of sub-phrases, phrases, and themes, which make up a song. What makes these songs interesting is that whales seem to have a sort of rudimentary language, so their songs might be a form of non-abstract art, just like our songs which express thoughts and feelings through language. I wouldn't expect whalesong to communicate abstract ideas like our music but it would still be interesting to know what they might be singing about. Krill? Kelp? All those annoying fucking boats?
I'd also like to travel around the universe. If you could accelerated at 9.8 m/s^2, which is the acceleration of gravity on earth, you could reach a velocity that approached the speed of light in little under a year. If you were traveling through space that fast, you could circumnavigate the universe in your lifetime. When you got back the earth would be thousands of years in the future because in my reference frame, at a velocity near the speed of light, time moves slower. Alas, I will never be able to do this. But it's fun to think about.
I'm from Washington State too, so if you want to compare notes on that state...
Also, i like going on hikes, and riding bikes, playing video games in the middle of the night. I'll stay up late, and I won't even care that I'm getting up early to go to the state fair. I'm gonna ride the biggest rides it will be out of site, and I'll share an elephant ear with you if you like.
