About Me

Cross country from Maryland to California in my new Honda Element

I am a pretty independent soul, whose favorite memories in life are simply GOING....driving on the open road, with no real destination, and open to all manor of new experiences. So now, I'm making it happen.

I have worked as a photographer for many years, and am now exploring video as well. I love, love, love movies, food, alternative health, meditation, and spiritual quests, which recently has been studying meditation and spiritual deepening through study with a guru - Rohini Ralby.

I'm pretty easy going, but like to have my freedom, hence I got rid of the house I bought, as I don't like to be tied down.

I tend to have a bit of a dead pan sense of humor, maybe from growing up in the midwest.

And most of all, so far in my life I have done EVERYTHING I ever set out to do, and I don't plan to stop in that regard. So, I love the open road, and that's where I am heading.

I live my life, to have every experience I want, to drink fully from the cup of life, and to learn. Always to learn.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am new to the Couch Surfing community, so being a full time freelance photographer and videographer, I can, and will, certainly provide images, and video of the people I meet, and I'm sure those professional images could be used for great good.

None really, other than having all ready visited 47 US states, and many countries, and some youth hostels.

Love movies. Love alternative health and spirituality.
Love the open road. Am making several video projects, and may make a full length film of my trip. Food, yes,
I like it. I don't watch any TV, it generally scares me.
Like classic alternative music (1st wave on XM). Kids are cool, though I don't have one of my own. Volunteered in the Big Brother/Big Sister program for 14 years.

Music, Movies, and Books

Like the directors: JJ Abrams, Christopher Nolan, Lee Daniels, The Cohen Brothers. Favorite flicks are Nolan's Insomnia, and The Matrxi, and No Country for Old Men.

Like classic alternative music, like on 1st Wave XM: Blondie, Devo, The Police, Oingo Boingo, etc.

Books...I read a fair amount of technical stuff, learning video production, but sadly, somehow have not read classic literature for some time. Like DH Lawrence, The Desert Fathers, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first thing that comes to mind is walking the streets of Seoul, Korea, at night, and experiencing all the hub bub, from the puppies in cages sold for food (yuck, I know), to the sailors on leave in bars getting rowdy, to the neon lights, and of course, the faces. I've done some wild stuff in my life, but this simple one above just comes to mind.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share 20 years of photography experience, including strobe lighting, Photoshop, image management,
portraits, weddings, children's portraits, stock photography, fine art work. I can also share a good deal of knowledge on HDSLR video, ie, using you digital DSLR camera for video. I also have learned some very depth oriented meditation practices.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, France, Japan, Mexico, Norway, South Korea, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
