I am a fun loving, somewhat a free spirit. I just started dragonboat racing recently, I work hard, happy go lucky person. I want to travel even more than I have thus far. Though finding people to go with me is harder than deciding where to go or what to see.
I was born and raised as a traditional California kid, I am quickly changing into a Coloradodian thru and thru. I am a middle child, living on my own with housemates since moving to Colorado 5 years ago.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am here to experience the world as a local. Everyone wants to travel and see sights, I want to do it with local eyes, local traditions/colloquialisms, and local culture.
I enjoy reading is my passion, hiking when the idea strikes me, losing myself figuratively and literally in a new place, exploring the counter culture of the world, and education - in the sense that we are all students and teachers to one another.
My newest adventure is dragonboat racing. I have just started racing for about a month, and finished my first festival. This might be the reason why I am traveling in the near future to do more racing.
Music, Movies, and Books
I will read anything that strikes my fancy. The most recent book I read was A Brave New World Revisited off the comments from a couchsurfer, down to my favorite series of my youth - and now as well - Harry Potter.
Music is music, I do not have my favorite kind of music or favorite artists. Beats, tunes, songs, ballads, hymms, throat singing (just heard my first song), or chants - all have their merits to someone, maybe not everyone. I used to say anything except country and classical, until I met a new friend of mine. He truly listens to everything and we went on a day trip to hiking. I listened and hummed/sang to everything that came on. So many new musical sounds I experienced that day. So let's listen to what we each have and see what we both enjoy or not.
My favorite movies are The Way, Gran Torino, Pulp Fiction, Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Avengers, Bully, Cabin in the Woods, and The Right Side to name a few. To me, no one can tell you how or why a movie is good; a good movie to me is a movie that allows me to be sucked in, enthralled, and forget my life for that hour or two or three.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think the most amazing thing that I did, many say stupid and rash, was to move to Colorado. It may not be huge or a drastic change, but I chose to move from California to Colorado in 36hours and moved 2 days later. Packed up my life and moved for a guy. I have never regretted it because with that choice I changed my world and the road my life was on.
I think that the quick decisions we make with the trust in our "gut" are the truest decisions we can make. When we let our head or heart weigh in we can regret, we can worry, and we can back out. If we follow our gut, trust in that unforseen force we will never fall flat on our face.
Teach, Learn, Share
First off, so this title - Teach, learn, share - I have no idea what is wanted here...here goes nothing.
Education and educating yourself and others is the essence of life. We as people are always teaching ourselves and others thru our own experiencing personally or by proxy of someone we know; we continually learn by the same aspects whether we like it or not; sharing is caring and it can be fun (or so the slogan says) - to share and pass on our passions, loves, drives, and mistakes helps all other individuals around us.
We grow and we change on a minute by minute basis, we truly are our own doppelgangers. Change is the spice of life - resisting that, is never good for you, your friends and family. We control only a limited part of our life, so enjoy the ride - the universe may slap you down, but always helps you back up as long as you want the help.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my love of living, sometimes I think we as people get in our routine and forget the fun side of where we live, the passion of how amazing our hometown and life is amazing because it is our everyday. Visiting as a couchsurfer will make you remember what brought or kept you where you are - engage your passion and love for your home wanting to make sure that others feel, see, and share in that love.
