Curbing Cynicism and Winning Prizes.
I'm not a fan of these "all about you" questionnaires âÃâ¬Ãâ the answers always feel much too contrived for my comfort. I'll just get back to you on this when I'm dead.
Handing out high fives.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I was a lot more active before I started law school – now I'm as much a couchsurfer as one of those people that likes the idea of sports, but hasn't done one for so long that he feels rusty when handed the ball, stick, bat (insert your favorite piece of sporting equipment).
Lots of CSing, hosting, and events in Montpellier, France – I've had great many opportunities to go on a variety of hiking/beach trips, participate in things like Beer Club, Cake Club, Anti-cake Club, etc.
traveling, reading, reflecting, writing, lots of snowboarding, a little of yoga-ing, cooking, hiking, biking, camping, drawing, eating, drinking, creating run-on sentences ... lots of other "ings" such as meeting new people.. also politics and human rights.
I also want to learn how to play the guitar, djembe, how to be a better cook, get into rock-climbing, kite-surfing, whitewater kayaking.
Music, Movies, and Books
*this entire section is starved for an update - law school put my normal interests on a long ass hiatus âÃâ¬Ãâ but I'm more interested in what YOU are reading, listening, watching. Here are some favorites though:
Fiction Authors: Vonnegut, Dostoevsky, Chekhov, Sherman Alexie, Zakhar Prilepin are some of the most-most favorites. Tom Robbins = a local.
Non-fiction stuff: Raj Patel, Amartya Sen, Michael Pollan and Paul Krugman.
Current Playlist includes:
The Arcade Fire, Beach House, Die Antwoord
note these people or art do not fall into a particular category, but I can blab on and on about how great are Jon Stewart, Louis CK, and Bill Hicks, Banksy, and the Wire.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I rode on a passenger mini-bus ride from Bimbila, at town in the Northern Region of Ghana, to Hohoe, Volta, Ghana. It took 17 hours to drive 220 kilometers on a red pebble road that was literally falling apart on us due to the rainy season conditions. Ask me about if you'd like to hear colorful details.
Teach, Learn, Share
Languages. Snowboarding. LAW (I will bore you to tears with legal talk if you'd like that.) A bit of cooking.
Also, once in a while I will get drunk and start talking politics. Sometimes I do it sober, without any prompt or cue.
