About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Going completely freelance

ABOUT ME

I live in France and I am a full time translator, freelance. I also translate from German, and sometimes Italian, depending on the subject matter (art, archaeology and law). I also like art, and have worked as an art teacher in the past. Actually I have many interests and the language aspect adds other dimensions.

PHILOSOPHY

There is a key to everyone and everything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Do not have a place for anyone to stay at the moment, but could go for a coffee or help with the language.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met up with several people through Couchsurfing, making friends and learning about new cultures.

Interests

I like being out and about, especially in cities. Walking is good and so is going to the gym - being fit and healthy is my drug! I enjoy writing things, reading up on random stuff and creating something out of that. I studied art for several years after I left school and have sold a few things, designed book covers, done a few commissions, as well as using art in my teaching. Apart from that, I am interested in the beauty and wellness industry and have worked in cosmetics and fragrance sales quite a lot, qualifying as a beauty and holistic therapist.

Music, Movies, and Books

I watch movies in the cinema and at home and like a mix of old, new, and world cinema. I mostly read non-fiction, due to my work, but I would read more if I had more time. I like to read works in different languages because it helps me to develop my skills and every language is a new dimension.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to University in my thirties with no money and came out with a 2:1 degree in three European languages, while working evenings, weekends and nights in various part time jobs. It completely changed my life but I don't know how I got through. I also met my husband in the desert, in Saudi Arabia.

Teach, Learn, Share

I always help people with their English. It always ends up this way!! But I started to learn Arabic in Saudi.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Zambia

Countries I’ve Lived In
