Happily retired now, doing lots of travel to feed my wanderlust.
A 'baby boomer' taken early retirement from the stressful world of Real Estate to tame my wanderlust. Have become a happy vagabond, housesitting my way up and down the East Coast of Australia before settling in Hobart in August 2012. Looking for more adventures for my next book!
I live my dreams. "Life is not a dress rehearsal" is a favourite motto I live by. A bit of an adventurer & rebel, I find routine boring. Too many places to see, too little time! Happily travel solo - have had some amazing experiences through travelling alone.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm afraid I haven't a couch to offer to fellow surfer's - I'm currently holed up in a little bedsitter. Can offer interesting and lively conversation - I'm a bit of a chatterbox and well travelled. Love a good laugh - I can promise my stay won't be boring!
Long before this was known as 'couch surfing', I've been known to crash on friend's couches rather than head home late, and of course have had many late stayers crash at my place. Love the spontaneity of unexpected sleepovers!
Tried my first courchsurfing adventures in Tasmania, and have stayed friends with my host - catching up every couple of months now I live in Tassie too.
Travel, meeting people from other cultures, socialising, travel, live music, theatre, art house movies & foreign films, writing, my blogsite, beachwalking, yoga, did I mention travel?
- live music
- adventure races
Music, Movies, and Books
Mamma Mia - just for the sheer pleasure of it, King's Speech, The Usual Suspects, The Sound of Music is a timeless favourite.
Love the Diana Gabaldon 'Outlander' series of books - stone circles, time travel, Highland warriors, feisty love affairs - engrossing.
Music - love many genre's - Buble to Barnsey, Italian tenors, popera, anything from the last 50 years really.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Amazing things I've done:
1 - Written and published my own book! A travel/romance novel based on my own travels & romance :)
2 - Starting a university degree - at my age!
3 - Hiked to the Sun Gate at Machu Picchu - with a bunged up knee.
Teach, Learn, Share
Have completed a TESOL course & hoping to teach English in the UK or Europe in the future. Running my own travel blog/website with a view to offering tips & advice (& inspiration) to fellow older travellers - solo or otherwise. Love sharing my travel stories with fellow travellers - non travellers just don't get it!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Lively conversation, travel tips, a wine or two and world problem solving.
