To explore the unique terrain of territories, and converse about the differences in culture.
I have a tendency to underestimate the difficulties of planning, and thus launch myself into the potentially exhausting (yet exciting) world of "last minute adventuring". This is how my friend Aaron and I currently find ourselves in Norway (and then Iceland), without much of a plan for a few weeks. We had the intention of camping, strolling, exploring the vastness of the Norwegian forests, but weather of late has hindered our attempts, leaving us yearning for the elusive mountains. The aspect of home that tears most at our daily endeavors is the lack of jamming, rocking, playing music; we usually subsist on regular rock sessions, but have not been able to find an outlet for those musings.
The world which preceded our presence probably has more to offer in terms of life affirming existence than the mundane sediment of "every day." The only way to discover is to seek.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Once I find a place to call "home", I hope to welcome all folks seeking a warm and hospitable roof to rest under during their travels. Until then, I can extend an invitation to the couch I so frequently inhabit (a friend's, in Portland, ME, USA).
Though I have never offered a couch of my own, nor spent a night on a stranger's couch, I have often passed time with surfers with friends, and have greatly enjoyed their perspectives and conversation.
Heavy metal, dark folk, bright folk, slide guitar, prophetic drums, mountain tops, forest walks, fine beverages, odd cuisine, novellas, labyrinthine libraries... And stellar sights.
Music, Movies, and Books
After years in a record store, there are many things I can say about many types of music and movies. I am relatively well read, also.
