Hello! My name is Halle, I am a current Computer Engineering major at UNBC in Prince George, Canada on my gap year for travel! I spent almost two years working as an Optical Technician specifically saving up for travel and so far, I've visited Japan, Hawaii, Arizona, and I took a 6 week backpacking trip through England, Belgium, France and Italy just this March!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm nearing the end of my gap year now and I wanted to squeeze in a last minute solo trip through the UK and Ireland and I happen to also be nearing the end of my bank account (ha). Couch surfing sounded like an amazing way really get to know the culture of the cities I visit and to meet some amazing people along the way without breaking the bank!

Music, Movies, and Books

In terms of music, I'm a huge fan of Grouplove, Cage the Elephant, Watsky, of Monsters and Men, and Alt-J (Breezeblocks being my absolute favourite song!)

My favourite movies include The Martian, Tangled and Mike and Dave need Wedding Dates

And my favourite book is the Orphan Master's Son

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I used to be an avid volunteer for Free the Children. I used to work at a soup kitchen with my team every Sunday morning and we also worked through countless fundraisers to help build a school in South Africa!

I love stories, Telling and hearing them! I love to learn about different people's experiences and views on the world, in all actuality, that's why I'm travelling. I want to be able to see and experience the world from every perspective I possibly can to base my own views off of, eventually in an attempt to make the world a better place for everyone!
