ABOUT ME

I'm told by my friends that I'm a little crazy but that's why they love me. I'm almost always happy about something, and I'm a persistent optimist who loves new experiences. I'm a little shy at first but I open up pretty quickly. I'm organized but easy going and I'm always ready for adventure.

PHILOSOPHY

"A journey that goes well is enjoyed while it lasts but not remembered for long, while a journey with many trials and tribulations is not quite so enjoyable, but makes for far better stories." This is an indirect quote from The Hobbit that essentially means "go with the flow". I'm always reminded of this when things go wrong and it helps me look on the bright side in bad situations because I know they'll be hilarious stories later.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think CS is such a great idea and I try to tell as many people as I can about it so that they can enhance their own travels as well as expand the CS community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I don't have any personal experience in hosting or surfing yet, but I have friends who've done both and loved it and I'm really excited to get going!

Interests

I have way too many interests to list here so I'll give you an abbreviated version. I like the outdoors, history, math, nature, hockey, sports, people, talking, cycling, architecture, carpentry, reading, travel (of course), dancing, new experiences, and having a great time with new and old friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a very eclectic taste when it comes to music; I like everything from rap to classical although I have a soft spot for folk music and oldies rock and roll such as Bachman Turner Overdrive. I love Disney movies and Star Wars and I'm always excited to sit down and watch someone's favourite movie with them. I'm a big fan of books and my favourite genres include adventure, biographies, and historically based novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I visited Africa with my family in 2010 and meeting the people there was one of the most life changing experiences. We were in Burkina Faso which is one of the poorest countries in the world, but the people are so genuine and happy with the little they do have that you would never guess at the extreme poverty they live in. I'll never forget the way these people changed me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I wouldn't say that I have any particular skills at this point in my life since I'm still pretty young, unless being able to talk your way out of almost anything counts. But I'm always eager to learn, whether it's about someone's profession or their hobby or some sort of cultural enigma.
